A little summer time reality check for Instagram! It’s fun looking at all the pretty homes, perfectly made beds, freshly painted walls and staged photos ?… but the reality is it’s not always real. The real truth is I have a mini trampoline and gym mat in our family room, orange juice spilled on my coffee table and a 9 year old upstairs who would like to play video games for rest of summer. ?? I hope you see this is a reminder that Instagram is a facade of real life. The messes of our homes are what makes the real memories around here.

So this paint was a brain buster! First I was shocked when I opened the can… (video on next slide) I was thinking crap… I didn’t want ninja turtle green. But I went for it any way and it was like some kind of magic ? trick right before my eyes. Took about three coats though but let’s not talk about that. I absolutely love how it turned out. It’s like this dark moody creamy charcoal with a green forest under tone. I can’t wait for you to see the rug I picked out too that will tie all this together. Some where over the rainbow ?…. My daughter and I painted this rainbow yesterday and I was so happy with all the colors we picked out. We made a huge mess and laughed a bunch and while the OCD in me really wanted to do the whole thing so it was perfect I let go. She will remember this rainbow in a totally different way now than just me doing it. Also the quilt at the end of her bed was mine when I was younger. “Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth."

I’ve been blasting music in the back yard today and since my landscapers didn’t show up yesterday I decided to mow myself. It’s almost like vacuuming and you get to make those perfect lines in the grass! ? I find it therapeutic. Anyone else?? I definitely didn’t do the front because I’m not that brave and my lawn mower was going to run out of gas ?. Today I encourage you to turn your tv off, to be in nature, eat some healthy food and hug your loved ones.

When your backyard lights up for you automatically it’s magic. Creating a space I actually want to be in is important for me. Not just to entertain people but it’s my home. My safe haven. My son broke and displaced his toe so I’ll spending a lot of time here lol! Good thing it’s super cozy!

Photo dump of our summer so far! I’ve had some ask where I’ve been and to be honest I’ve just been living life. Haven’t felt the need to document every second on Ig and a lot of places we’ve gone to we don’t have service or we’ve just been in the water! Our summer recap: We’ve been gone back to CA, had family come visit, had some wine with my sister and got a matching tattoo, traveled on roads that stole our breath, floated many rivers and lakes and most importantly have had so much fun! 8 more weeks of summer break for the kids which is crazy because we’re so used to going back to school mid august! Hope you all are enjoying whatever it is you’re doing!
