I had a fantastic time creating the cover of @northwellhealth Cancer Institute’s annual report with Ido Simyoni (@ido8all). Ido’s story is defiant: a survivor of a rare tumor, he went on to run all six of the world’s major marathons twice. You’d never know it from looking at him, but the doctors at the Northwell Cancer Institute constructed a brand new forehead for him. Swipe for the full story. Thanks to @onwardpublishinginc.

Since May last year, my life has been turned upside down. I went through two major head surgeries, lost my best friend @theizotimes unexpectedly, had an accident at home, and went through a breakup. Through it all, two things kept me going: running and the love and strength of my friends and family. Finishing the NYC Marathon and completing the Abbott World Marathon Majors 6 Star Challenge in one year gave me a time to reflect on everything I’d been through—how I faced it, who showed up for me, what carried me forward, and what didn’t. It also brought clarity on what I want and where I’m headed. To anyone facing their own challenges: hold tight to what gives you strength, and to the people who feel like home. Those connections and that inner drive can carry you through anything. ❤️????

Last week, Izo (@theizotimes )decided to leave me without any notice, right in my arms as we were traveling. Izo was born in a small city in Israel, and at 2 years old, he moved with me to London. Four years later, we made our way to NYC. We were the unbreakable Ido and Izo until it happened last week. He was my rock, my home away from home, my best friend, the one that loved me unconditionally (and I loved him back the same), and, of course, the best travel partner. We lived on three continents, explored nine countries, and visited 21 states. We shared so many moments and memories together and with the rest of the world. He was one of the first social media influencer dogs, achieving some fun and interesting milestones, from being featured on one of Piccadilly Circus’s big screens to meeting legendary celebrities, and even getting a shoutout on @instagram ‘s official account, including making it to their yearly pet calendar. Words can’t describe the sharp pain and deep sadness I’m experiencing. I’ve lost friends and family members before, but this time it hits differently. It feels like my heart was taken away from me, and I can’t bring it back. I hope that we will meet again because we were perfect for each other, and the thought of him being without me breaks my heart even more. I pray that he’s in peace and not experiencing any pain or sadness, and I’m thankful for all the love he gave me in the last 13.5 years. Rest in peace, my Izo (hijo). I will love you forever.

It’s my birthday today. This year reminded me how unpredictable life can be. It started in Brazil, one of my favorite places. I got robbed, but kept going. I traveled through Colombia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Israel, Iceland, and France. Then came summer in NYC. But life shifted. A war escalated and broke out in my homeland and I couldn’t sleep, worrying about my family and friends. A friend was diagnosed with brain cancer. Work wins came with their own storms, so I didn’t even get to celebrate that. It’s been a reminder of how fragile everything is. How quickly things can flip. And how we have to keep going, even when life looks different than we imagined. So today, I’m holding on to what matters. Keep dreaming. Stay present. Let go of what no longer serves you. And I’m so thankful for everything and everyone I have in my life. The past brought us here, but it’s the now and what’s ahead that will carry us through. Sending love, strength, and joy to everyone who needs it. And a special birthday wish and prayers to two friends who know they know. ???? @marcusmair

I ran the @sydney_marathon , my 7th star in the World Marathon Majors (@wmmajors ). Coming into it, I had very low expectations. My training didn’t go as planned with illness and an injury… and the doubts and questions I had at the start of this race are ones I think every marathon runner can relate to. But I did it. My way. And if you want to know my time, you’ll have to watch until the end. Huge shoutout to my friends @leftwichjeff1989 and @bruna.amaral09 who came all the way from NYC to cheer me and push me to the finish line and capturing it. And last thanks to coach Tom for his constant support and direction. @runcoachsays #SydneyMarathon #WorldMarathonMajors #MarathonRunner #RunnersOfInstagram #MarathonTraining #RunningMotivation #sub3 @satisfyrunning #satisfyrunning

I ran my 5th @wmmajors of 2024 in Chicago 12.5 hours after breaking the Yom Kippur fast—and wow, it was tough. Even though I’ve run this course before and knew what to expect, my body had other plans. For 26.2 miles, it was a battle of mind vs. body. While I didn’t break 3 hours this time, I’m focusing on the positive—I finished. ???????? I wouldn’t recommend running without proper fueling and hydration prior to a big race, but this was a conscious decision to honor my religion and this important fast. Now, I’ve got 3 weeks to recover and prepare for the best race of all: the @nycmarathon . While I find NYC marathon to be the hardest of all six marathons, I believe it’s also the most uplifting and rewarding so I’m beyond excited to run it again. I might even just run to enjoy it this time (meaning not racing it). Until then, happy Medal Monday! ???? @marathonfoto , @achilds825 , @heartbreak.chi @heartbreak.run

Chanukah might be over, but is it ever a bad idea to run and eat donuts? We got @ido8all , a top 10% Google food reviewer and top 1% on @tripadvisor -oh, he’s also a 2 X @wmmajors finisher, to join us for the expedition ~DISCLAIMER: The opinions are ours, and ours alone and specifically on the donuts. We didn’t review any other items~ We ran through the 5towns and stopped by some of the most popular donut spots. We started with Allan’s Bakery, moved on to @momspastries , @myunclemochi and then @cafechocolatny where we were met with a monster line….but worry not, we got to try the famous kronuts at the end of the video. We then hit up @berrylicious5t where you can find @sesame donuts through Chanukah As my boy @herm.runs always says, ???????? are the best fuel ;) Cheers to a great week of running friends - #donuts #runners

Berlin Marathon redemption! From my worst time in all marathon majors (3:18:56) on my first six star journey to my fastest one this year - 2:55:46 with an almost perfect even split (1:27:52 first half, 1:27:54 second half). Couldn’t be prouder or happier with these results, especially knowing that just over a year ago, I underwent two major head surgeries. Huge thanks to my friends who cheered me on the course (and took the videos), everyone who followed, cared and sent messages, and to my amazing coach Tom from @runcoachsays for his incredible support and guidance. Next stop: Chicago Marathon, followed by the legendary NYC Marathon - the final leg of my attempt to run all marathon majors in one year! ????‍♂️???? @wmmajors #abbottslam #SixStarJourney #berlinlegend
