I want to address something. Yesterday, I posted this pic on my stories and I got a lot of messages saying “no way you’re plus size”, “plus size where?” and I wanted to share my views on the topic. I know body image discussions have been in the talks for a while now and society is more open-minded than ever, and it makes me super happy. However, I want to emphasize that those are just labels and they really don’t mean anything (at least to me). I went to a casting as a teen when I was maybe 12 or 13, and was told my hips were too big to become a model (they were like 110cm). As a teen, it definitely affected my confidence. I started taking apple cider vinegar pills that supposedly suppress your appetite, started monitoring meal portions to lose those few kgs and get those extra centimeters off my hips only to realize it’s not attainable for my body type. So I gave up. Yes, I have big hips (now more than 110cm actually) and I’m ok with it, even though I’m no stranger to “are you pregnant?” comments every now and again ?. With big hips comes thicker thighs to carry those big hips, and bigger buttocks and a wider waist. Does that make me plus-size according to the industry? Maybe, but so what? So be it. I will not lose a night’s sleep over some labels. They are irrelevant and really shouldn’t matter. Again, I’m not a body image influencer, nor a nutritionist or a professional model. I have just always done what feels good for my body and I encourage you to do the same. Peace & love. ♥️
