We often show up to the mat for the physical challenge (hello, ego!), but we stay for the profound healing it brings to our whole selves. It’s easy to get caught up in the aesthetics of an impressive pose, but yoga is so much more than physical gymnastics. At its core, it’s a practice of “union”—a tool for connecting your breath, mind, and nervous system to build emotional resilience. The physical postures are beautiful, but they are really just the gateway to a much deeper relationship with yourself. So grateful for the connections made on the mat. Missing my fellow yogis at @yinyogabalischool today! ????

It’s so easy to get caught up in how far you still have to go, that you completely forget to look back at how far you’ve come. Stop being so hard on yourself for a second. Think about the version of you from 5, 10, or 20 years ago. They would be absolutely in awe of the battles you’ve won, the boundaries you’ve set, and the strength you carry today. Keep walking your path. You’re doing better than you think. ✨ Drop a ❤️ if you needed this reminder today!

???? Jokes aside, let me tell you a few things about protein…. 10 true scientifically proven facts about protein: • 1. It’s all about amino acids: Protein is made up of smaller building blocks called amino acids. There are 20 in total, but 9 are “essential”—meaning your body cannot produce them on its own, so you must get them from your diet. • 2. It keeps you fuller for longer: Protein is the most highly satiating macronutrient. It reduces your level of the hunger hormone ghrelin and boosts the peptide hormones that make you feel full, making it easier to manage your appetite. • 3. Your body burns calories just to digest it: This is called the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). Your body uses about 20-30% of the calories in protein just to digest and metabolize it, compared to only 5-10% for carbs and 0-3% for fats. • 4. It protects against age-related muscle loss: As we get older, our bodies naturally lose muscle mass (a condition called sarcopenia). Eating adequate protein, especially when combined with resistance training, is the most effective way to prevent this and stay strong as you age. • 5. It is essential for strong bones: Despite an old myth that protein leaches calcium from bones, research actually shows the opposite. A high protein intake is strongly linked to better bone mass density and a lower risk of osteoporosis and fractures. • 6. It’s not just for bodybuilders: While famous for building muscle, protein is also the main structural component of your hair, skin, nails, tendons, organs, enzymes, hormones, and even your immune system antibodies.
