Okay, so the news! I’m heading to Dubai… today. I’ll be performing at @fivepalmjumeirah for a few weeks and wow, I am gassed. A year ago, despite my best efforts to be optimistic, I couldn’t shake the thought that live music and performing wasn’t gonna make it through the pandy. Y’all remember that whole “find something new” mess…? Oof. I know we’re not fully in the clear, but I’m pumped we’re finding ways to reconnect to the type of joy you get only from experiencing a live show. Aight, I’m off! One year ago today I had the opportunity to present an original song on @nbcsongland to @bensplatt. I got to work on it with @RyanTedder and that song became “Everything I Did To Get To You”. This was a wild moment for me, not only because of the show airing, but because it happened at the height of the pandemic AND major movement for racial equity in America. I’m honored that a song about seeing the beauty in overcoming the worst was released at this time. Thanks to everyone who has joined my musical journey since then, and the incredible band, production team, the new writer family I made from the show, and the other G.O.A.Ts @esterdean & @shanemcanally.
