I was in middle school when my mom called me out early one day. She had found her birth child after 15 years. My stomach still does flips when I think of that day for me ? It was scary, exciting, unknown, relief, so many emotions. Sometimes we can’t control how open or closed these adoptions can be. But we can control how much they know. My birth sibling was never a secret to us, sometimes I would even count them in how many siblings I had, even though I never ever met them ? Adoption is so different with each family & it’s handled differently for so many reasons. So how do our girls know at such a young age about adoption? Last week I was asked if Palmer was everything I wanted, as a young girl, in a husband ? I said No! He’s even better! ? We’ve officially hit our 2 year mark of being seizure free ??? (If you’re new here, Riley wouldn’t wake up one morning & started having a grand mal seizure and completely stopped breathing) I couldn’t imagine a life without my biggest cheerleader, to the girl’s super hero & our families rock. I’m forever grateful for my “list” as a young woman bc it reminded me to be those things as well & focus on a Christ centered spouse. Together we’ve been through loss, infertility, grief, & so much more but it’s forever made our marriage stronger & better ?

Today I was able to chat with @goodthingsutah about affirmations and how to raise confident kids ? We’ve always told our girls that they are strong, brave, smart & kind but most importantly we want them to be confident in who they are, their backgrounds, their heritage, their stories. This is why we tell them at such a young age about their stories, about how beautiful the Polynesian culture is, about how unique the creole blood in her is, about the love in her Marshallese ethnicity & strength in her middle eastern side. We need to teach our children that deep in their roots is where confident starts ???
