I use to play baseball religiously until i took a pitch to the face and for me that was a big deal, I loved the game. I had to go to the hospital and have surgery on my face. After that it was hard for me to step back into the game.

Then somewhere along the journey of life I ran into @edhearn49 formerly played for the Royals and Mets when they won the World Series! 
Its Always a good time seeing a friend. @edhearn49

But... Each time he's said something to me I've always took it to heart. And applied it to my own life, and got to learn about all of his struggles in and outside of the game. But there has always been one thing that has stood out to me.

Sometimes you swing and miss but it's up to you to step back up to the plate and keep swinging. 
Life is a curve ball keep swinging because sooner or later you will hit one.

Being real with everyone.
This was me... Left ~133ish right ~155ish ( right after a pump, and more of a upper body day.) I don't look like this all the time.

About 5 1/2 years ago I decided that I wanted to change. I started with doing situps, push-ups, and just trying to beat out what i did previously.

So no... I didn't pop out of the whomb doing pullups.

I had below average genetics. But what i did have was determination.

There isnt a secret/hack. If there was I guarantee everyone would look like hulk by now....
Consistency... .
I know that is the generic thing to say, but that is the only thing that will yield long term growth. Consistancy, progressive overload, and determination are the 3 things. I'm not just talking about lifting.

Time Under Tension and Hypertrophy. ( **Feel Free To Share**) Time Under Tension is NOT focusing on ( 6 second negatives and 2 second concentric phases). Time Under Tension is not per rep, but over a period of time. 
The biggest driver of muscle growth is Volume
Volume being sets x reps x weight used. 
Increase in 
Sets = More total tension 
Reps = More total tension 
Weight = More total tension 
Now the strongest part of the lift is the negative. So what do you think will be more beneficial ? 
Scenario 1 
you can control a 40lb weight on the eccentric phase of a bicep curl ( down phase) going very slowly... Scenario 2 
you have a 40lb weight that is going faster on the eccentric phase and you have to switch directions really fast. 
In scenario 1 that 40lb weight will only be a 40lb weight.
In scenario 2 that 40 lb weight will now have force behind it. 
In order to transition from an eccentric phase to a concentric phase; it will place more tension and force on the muscle having to switch directions really quick
