When I was in high school, the password to my email was MyComputer...that was literally the extent of my security prowess ?

I’d like to think I’ve come a long way since then, but so has the internet and those who know how to manipulate it. With active accounts on basically every social media platform, trying to keep passwords complicated enough to keep them secure while remembering them is no easy feat - I can barely remember what I had for breakfast this morning. There’s a lot of my personal and professional data out there and keeping it secure is really important to me.

That’s why I’ve decided to partner with @yubico to help promote the #YubiKey - the strongest form of two-factor authentication available on the market. This means that in addition to your username and password, these portable and easy-to-use keys add an extra layer of protection to all of your accounts.

Using the link in my bio, you can save $10 on any YubiKey 5 Series key purchase with my code “GeorgeK10” if you’re interested!

I finally completed my first half marathon today (21.15km). It took 2 hours & 10 min.

• Left the house and set the @nikerunning app to 10km. I felt really good (energy wise) today although legs were a little sore from a Peloton workout the day before. Halfway through my run, I made the decision that I was going to push it to 21km today. Not sure why, it was completely impulsive and I decided to just go for it.

• I attempted to run this distance in 2019 and was 1km short. I got to 20km and my legs gave in, I suffered a half-tear in my knee which took about 6 months to fully heal so I gradually had to build back my cadence since that run. It’s been shorter runs ever since (3-10km’s).

• The reason I’m sharing this run and posting about it is to, hopefully, inspire you to push past your boundaries in whatever it is you decide to tackle. For me, it was running - but that can be something totally different for you. Regardless of what that thing is, once you push past the pain, accomplish what scares you, and reach that finish line there’s no feeling in the world that can take its place. Discomfort is also one hell of a teacher man, it’s a muscle that requires effort to build - and the more fuel you give it the stronger you will get in all areas of your life.

“Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.” ??

One of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had was solo-travelling to Alaska and doing a glacier hike ?

And hopefully, we can all get the chance to explore more of what this planet has to offer. Thought I’d use this post as a reminder of what our actions can lead to and where we can make small changes:

- Since the first Earth Day, average annual temperatures in the US have been warming at a rate of 0.45F degrees per decade.

- Humans today use about 50% more natural resources than we did 30 years ago (Friends of the Earth report).

- Animal species populations saw an overall decline of 60% worldwide between 1970-2014 due to habitat loss, pollution, climate change, etc.

- 2019 was the second-hottest year on record worldwide

- Today’s average American generates about 4.5 pounds of trash per day compared to 2.68 pounds in 1960 (EPA).

- Nearly 80% of all plastic waste ever created by humans is still in the environment.

Simple things you and I can do to make this planet more sustainable: unplug devices after being charged, use energy-efficient lights (like LED), recycle when you can, cut back on water usage, plant a tree, reduce unnecessary waste, donate items and to foundations.

Happy Earth Day everyone ? ?

Some cool shots from my interview earlier today with John Abrams the CEO of Venzee Technologies, a supply-chain tech company listed on the TSXV (TSXV: VENZ), talking about what @tsxtsxv is building in Chicago/the Midwest and how we intend on helping more US companies achieve their growth ?
