What does it feel like to be alive? Living, you stand under a waterfall. You leave the sleeping shore deliberately; you shed your dusty clothes, pick your barefoot way over the high, slippery rocks, hold your breath, choose your footing, and step into the waterfall. The hard water pelts your skull, bangs in bits on your shoulders and arms. The strong water dashes down beside you and you feel it along your calves and thighs rising roughly backup, up to the roiling surface, full of bubbles that slide up your skin or break on you at full speed. Can you breathe here? Here where the force is the greatest and only the strength of your neck holds the river out of your face. Yes, you can breathe even here. You could learn to live like this. And you can, if you concentrate, even look out at the peaceful far bank where you try to raise your arms. What a racket in your ears, what a scattershot pummeling! It is time pounding at you, time. Knowing you are alive is watching on every side your generation's short time falling away as fast as rivers drop through air, and feeling it hit. ― Annie Dillard Face Off, LCC, Utah. If you post three consecutive photos climbing in Bishop does it mean you’re moving to Bishop? Asking for a friend. @alapomardo Photo: @natestutz

Odd as it may seem, I am my remembering self, and the experiencing self, who does my living, is like a stranger to me. ― Daniel Kahneman Photo: @natestutz ✨

Look at other people and ask yourself if you are really seeing them or just your thoughts about them....Without knowing it, we are coloring everything, putting our spin on it all. ― Jon Kabat-Zinn Photo: @oldmanmoon ✨

Photo: @gajdaphotography It’s been a week and I still find myself smiling as random memories flash behind my eyes with such intention and force. The nostalgia of Joe’s Valley is still taking its time to fade and I’m here for it. It’s koozies and etched mugs. Memphis coming to Utah. Climbing outside for the very first time. Conrad and Steven sharing the stage. Sam tirelessly helping folks unlock their creativity and having a little 5x7 window to carry with them always. Getting hit in the face with a table and running around with a shiner all weekend. It’s donuts, not drinking enough water, chapped lips, and feeling so tired but content at the end of each day. The disappointment of not finding sugar-free Haribos (if you know, you know) but finding that Skittles are just as good. Grasshopper boards going up and going down. Waking up to the cold sunrise, staying outside the entire day to feel the temperature change, and being forced to shed your layers only to bundle back up again with the sunset. Gathering at the day’s end to not just hear about epic sends (of all grades) but to share in the thrill of being in nature and a new place. Igniting new friendships and old. Falling asleep at the boulders and the fancy Crocs. Riding a bull, being dragged by a steer, and chasing chickens - which you truly will never understand until you witness it in person.  Having hard conversations and learning stories and experiences that will shape you for a lifetime. It’s Marina, Abbey, Olivia, Lana, and Carrie teaching (and supporting) clinics and being overall badass women in an industry that sometimes doesn’t recognize our light. Meeting legends and watching mentors and mentees. The athletes who taught a clinic that will forever change the course of each participant’s climbing path for the good.  **continued in the comments**
