Dear friends, family, and dear customers, Lao Tao has been providing quality Taiwanese street food for 5 strong years. It is with a heavy heart that I share that we will be closing our Chinatown location this month. Our final day of food service will be September 24th. When the pandemic hit, Lao Tao closed service for only a week and we got right back up. It’s a testament to our commitment to providing consistent quality food to our neighborhood as well as to our work ethic even during the direst of times. These were courageous weeks for my team and for that I’m eternally grateful to them. Our recipes are something we are constantly still perfecting even to this day. Thank you for sharing in our growth as we have explored and refined our dishes: such as our notorious Popcorn Chicken Bowl to our newer vegetarian potstickers. There have been a lot of ups and downs, but the culture and ties among us have only grown stronger as we understand that culture is the fabric of a business as well a society as a whole. Now that the world is changing yet again, we are excited to start a new chapter for Lao Tao. Join us in saying farewell to 1.0 and keep your eyes out for our new projects. And our staff have all insisted to stay till the last day to uphold the culture that we all have contributed! Good luck to everyone and be courageous!
