3 Unique Spots To Visit in Tokyo You’ve Probably Never Been To… ????Fukagawa Edo Museum I was SO surprised when I walked into the Edo period city area. I’ve been to museums before, but this has to be one of my favorites. From the hands-on experience, down to the seasonal vegetable details, this was such a fun way to learn more about the Edo period, and it’s located right in Tokyo! ????Toyosu Senkyaku Banrai A brand new Edo-themed open mall area with amazing gourmet food options, hot springs, desserts, and shopping. This is the perfect spot for a weekend day of shopping and spending time with solo, or with friends and family. The hot springs at Tokyo Toyosu Manyo Club, located within the complex, were the perfect way to wind down after our flights, and not to mention, an AMAZING view of the water and cute yukatas to wear! ????Shunkaen BONSAI Museum A bonsai garden and museum set up by the award winning Bonsai Master Kunio Kobayashi, with bonsai trees that are 800, and even 1000 years old! Inside of the Japanese house, several tokonoma (traditional Japanese room) are set up featuring bonsais. I learned so much about bonsais and felt so relaxed and peaceful after spending time at the museum. This Japan trip felt a little different from my usual ones. I’ve spent most of my time in Tokyo on past trips, so it was really nice to actually get out and explore places I’d never been before in Gifu and Aichi prefectures. It felt like such a refreshing change of pace and a chance to see something totally new, so here’s a little peek at where I went and what I did! ????Nagoya Castle, Aichi Prefecture Construction of this castle was begun by Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu and completed in 1615. This castle is famous for its golden shachihoko, the mythical tiger-headed carp ornaments on the roof. Visiting for the first time, I loved walking through the rooms, exploring the castle up close, and checking out the shops and snack spots outside. It was beautiful, and there were so many perfect spots for photos. ????Magome-juku, Gifu Prefecture A charming, traditional town with a calm, unhurried atmosphere. I haven’t been to Kyoto, so this was my first time experiencing a town like this in Japan. The recreated Edo-period houses were gorgeous to see, and the mountain views were stunning. Plus, it’s part of the Nakasendo trail, the path that samurai once walked—how cool is that? ????Cutler SANSYU/Seki Hamono Museum, Gifu Prefecture Seki City is known as the City of Cutlery and we learned all about samurai blades, katanas, and cutlery. We even got a hands-on experience trying out some sword-making techniques ourselves, which was honestly so fun. Everything in the gift shop is made with Seki metal, and since I needed a new eyelash curler anyway, I picked one up as a little souvenir for myself. I officially got my braces 1 year ago today! Did you know you could do this with braces? ????????✨ I researched for years about braces and gummy smile improvement and about 7-8 years ago, I found out about TADs (temporary anchorage devices, essentially screws that are used as anchors to pull teeth in certain directions). Sounds scary, I know! But thankfully, it hasn’t been scary at all and it’s been so great having braces — since I ALWAYS wanted them since I was a kid, and seeing the progress. Thank you to @emilydao_ for sharing her progress on YouTube and for the Orthodontist recommendation! Huge thank you to my orthodontist @updikeortho ????✨ and huge thank you to @honestoralsurgeon for putting in my TADs! ????????????✨ Do you want to get braces? Have you ever had braces? Let me know down below ☺️ December - Braces! January - Teeth already started getting so straight February - Got TADs (Wax was super helpful!) March - Activated TADs & got triangle rubber bands April - Started seeing a little TADs progress May - Same as April June - Left side moving up faster (it’s natural for one side to sometimes move faster than the other, could be that I chew more on one side, etc.) July - Left side moving up faster August - Progress! September - Started seeing a ton of progress, getting more even, & started loving how my smile looks candidly!
