Standout projects making waves around the web

Its Friday night - how has your week been? I’m pooped. When I have lots on my mind I have to write it all down - lists and notes get everything out of my head and hopefully leads on to a better nights sleep. As soon as I start ticking things off my list I’ll sleep even better ? Renovation update - on the wall behind me I have 5 different paint samples but I still haven’t found ‘the’ colour. It’s so frustrating when sample pots don’t reflect the colour on the colour card. It’s costing me a fortune ?. Any tips for finding the right colour?

Who loves September? It has to be one of my favourite months ? I fired the Rayburn up over the weekend but now it’s dormant again and being used as a flower shelf ? Long may the September sun keep shining and my flowers sit on top of a cold Rayburn ? Just for a little bit longer.

How do you feel about schools reopening in the new normal? I took this photos this time last year when my youngest was preparing to move up to high school, knowing I’d never have to walk her to school ever again. It was an emotional time A lot has happened in the world since then. It’s been months since my girls walked out the front door and caught the school bus. I think we’re all ready for a bit more structure and routine but it doesn’t take a way the worry and apprehension. I wonder what it will feel like to be left alone in an empty house again? How long will it take for me to get back into my old routines?

Let’s talk Menopause! I read an article today on the BBC news about the menopause; it’s not talked about enough and there are so many symptoms which leave women feeling unwell, worthless and even suicidal. I wanted to put my hands up and tell the world this is the month the peri-menopause slapped me around the face and let me know it’s arrived; my hot flushes are thick and fast, my hormones are raging and suddenly the state of my half done house has become a big issue ? It’s arrival goes some way to explaining my recent brain fog and inability to make sense when talking. For someone who is used to being so organised, efficient and in control it’s come as a shock and knocked me sideways. I wanted to open up the conversation and ask about your menopause experiences. Why don’t we feel able to talk about it?

‘I know Maple, I’d much rather sit here drinking tea, eating cake and chatting to you than spending all day looking for a new car’ Please tell me I’m not alone? Car shopping is a chore isn’t it? Mr LASC loves consulting the car reliability index and researching car efficiency, cost per mile... and quite frankly if it’s not a vintage Landrover, Morris Minor or Citroen 2CV I have little or no interest. We’ve travelled far and wide today but I’m still car-less.

Happy International Dog Day Maple - she really is an international dog; Maple was found at the side of the road with a broken leg in Romania when she was only a few weeks old. She’s made Starre Corner complete - she’s a big softy who loves cuddles and tummy tickles and I love her so much ?

Five things I’m looking forward to in September. As I start to prepare for my girls going back to school I’ve started to think what it will be like to have the house to myself again during the day. Here are the things I’m most looking forward to doing in September; 1. Creating an interiors mood board and seeing my vision laid out in front of me 2. Starting to write my blog again 3. Planning my garden project for next year 4. Photography and styling 5. Lighting my Rayburn and fragrance candles ? You’ll see from the daffodils that this is an old photo but it fills my heart with joy at the thought of sitting in this corner again, feeling creative and focussed. What are you most looking forward to about next month?

On your bike! I bought this bike when we first moved to Starre Corner with enthusiastic visions of me cycling around the Norfolk countryside. It was a romantic notion which has been hampered by the reality of a full on renovation, an overgrown garden, a family, allotment, dog, chickens.... With the absence of a garden shed it’s been left abandoned outside with a flat tyre for too long. It’s now been repositioned at the front of Starre Corner as part of my garden planter display where at least it will be appreciated on a daily basis. One day I’ll get myself a new @pashleycycles and give it the life it deserves ?

Autumn is in the air and I’m embracing it ? There’s been a wonderful cooler breeze in the air today and a low sun; I’ve excitedly started thinking about my autumn wardrobe and cosy autumn interiors ?
