We spent the last 4 days in the woods celebrating my favorite person’s birthday! It was so nice and relaxing to be alone with no cell phones, computers or WiFi. I feel refreshed and have an odd sense of calm that I wasn’t expecting.

This naughty little puppy is very lucky she is so cute. She has officially torn apart the living room carpets ??‍♀️ doing the floors was not in the home improvement budget for this year.... but thanks to her it has to get done. Mike thinks I’m secretly happy about it ?‍♀️ I’ll never tell ?

Long post alert ... a little over 7 years ago my sister and I had the idea to start this crazy little business. We had grown up with a DIY dad who taught us to use power tools and never be afraid to tackle a project on our own. I was (am) a teacher and needed a little money on the side to help pay for club volleyball and braces for the kids. When I started making signs, I had a handheld saw and a power drill. I never could have imagined it would turn into what it did. I’ve made thousands of signs, taught thousands of people to use tools and make signs, opened two successful retail stores and met so many amazing makers and people. I have learned so much about “DIYing” and about myself. This business has made me a stronger and more confident woman and I hopefully have been an example of this to my own two daughters. My passion has always been teaching. I love this business and having a creative outlet, but it never topped my passion for helping kids. When I sold the store it wasnt because I didn’t love it (because man, did I) it was because I never loved owning the store more than I missed teaching. This year I took on a new role as an Instructional Coach for teachers and it is already so amazing. But, it is a lot of work. I am also going back to school to get another Masters degree. I will begin classes next month for Educational Leadership. I have made the difficult decision to shut down Made by 2 Sisters to focus on school and my family. I am sad but I am completely at peace with it. It is time. Tori @studio223az will be taking over all of the sign making and custom orders. She is amazing and you will be in great hands. Phew that was hard to say ❤️ but I really want to thank you for being on this journey with me. Thank you for your support. Thank you for all of your kind words and messages over the years. I truly loved getting to know you and have made some amazing lifelong friendships because of this little business. It was most definitely worth it ❤️

So I decided to brave the airport and travel during the midst of the pandemic, but it was for the best reason. Our beautiful daughter is engaged and Mike and I couldn’t be happier! Here is the quick version of the story.... ✨I flew in at 1:30pm yesterday with the ring Taylor had picked out for Amber. We drove to Leavenworth at midnight and started the torturous hike at 3:00AM. In case you didn’t know... I AM NOT A HIKER. We hiked 5.5 miles uphill (2300feet) and landed at the most beautiful lake that I have ever laid eyes on. An amazing photographer @toniechristine met us up there to capture the whole thing, so there will definitely be more pictures to come. The bad news was after all of this excitement we had to hike back ??‍♀️ but it was totally worth it. ✨ I have shared their story before and I cannot tell you how much we appreciated your love and support. My family is beyond excited for this new chapter of our lives ❤️
