For those of you who have never heard of Kea - they are Aotearoas alpine parrot and are only found in the South Island.⁣

? They are very clever and quick learners. Scientists estimate they are about as smart as a 4yo child.⁣
⁣
⚖️ Male kea can weigh up to 1kg, females a little less. Their weight ensures that they don't freeze high up in the mountains.⁣

? Kea are thought to mate for life.⁣

? In good ol' parrot fashion they have four toes. Two pointing backward and two pointing forward. Makes it easier to handle objects (and if you've ever come across a curious kea, you'll know how good they are at it).⁣

I still haven't figured out how to stay sane and self-confident in this superficial social media environment but I've decided to not let silly numbers get in the way of something I do actually love: being outside and capture moments that mean something to me. Moments that maybe mean something to you as well.⁣

I remember this morning so clearly. A huge chunk of worries was lifted off my shoulders as I stood there, letting the morning sun fill my heart with happiness. I really see that now, living in a city with no major bodies of water close by. We're lucky to have a beautiful forest right behind our doorstep but jumping into a lake after a dull day of work would be quite liberating indeed.⁣
