I may share a lot of political insight, but pls understand I have only recently, in the last so many years, been able to speak out and use my voice to empower others. This wasn’t me as a child...I whispered. I thought I was a bad kid and deserved to be bullied. I dealt w it. It was what it was. Well, in the last decade or so, I changed. Many of u know my story. Five years ago, my son’s father bashed my head into the pavement, resulting in concussion and 8 staples on my head. Well, that’s not the worst part. I was mortified to learn the narrative was changed by the abuser, claiming he didn’t do it & I “harmed myself”. Bc of that, I experienced friends becoming foes, people taking sides, and even some family didn’t have my back. Then, I looked to the system. The ones we run to for help and protection. But guess what? They sided w the perpetrator. Why? because he was a fireman. Old boys club, sweeping each other’s mess under the rug. This “corrupt system” isn’t gonna protect the single mom, when she’s kicked out of her home, caring for a baby and child, and needing to defend herself, while making a living, and above all, trying so damned hard to wear a smile all day, for her kids. They failed. I had made hundreds of calls to the prosecutors office, funded my own polygraphs, contacted FBI, while trying to rebuild my self-esteem and come back a stronger woman. Nothing. No charges, no returned calls. Nothing. This is why who we elect is important. Who’s fighting for justice? Who’s protecting your kids? Think. This is why I’m loud. This is why I speak. This is why I share. This is why my IG story is flooded w posts. This is why we need change. I’m here to vote out career politicians. I’m voting for change. Electing those who may have gave up a pretty damned good life, to really help the People. Hawaii- IT IS INSANE IF WE KEEP VOTING THE SAME PARTY OVER AND OVER, expecting a different result. What do we have to lose? I may be wrong, but really, what do we deserve better? We had it so bad we forgot what good even feels like. Kinda like that abusive relationship....Hawai’i, we deserve better.
