I will always hold dear the heartwarming moment when my mother grabbed 17 copies of my hometown paper from the news stand, featuring me on the front page. Getting texts and calls from my friends and family about the paper sightings around the Bay was quite cute too. Being recognized in the community where I spent my formative years holds a special place in my heart. Thank you Alyse DiNapoli @sanmateodailyjournal ! During my time at Borel Middle School, I had my initial foray into the world of acting. While I never landed a leading role & bombed my first ever audition, I fell deeper in love with performing thanks to the guidance and encouragement of one my most influential teachers (hi @amy_hedayatpour). Posting the updated reel to just have up here as reference for work reasons. Sorry for the spam. But for the curious, on 1/1/24 it’s going to be my 11 years since I decided to start pursuing this career. I’m proud of this body of work but most days I feel super behind some of my peers. After the pandemic and strikes, I feel demoralized and super stagnant. I know it’s a feeling shared across the industry right now. However, working on a reel update always puts things into perspective. This career is a privilege to pursue. Every day I work on my craft is a step upwards and forward, and these little clips are just 1% of the bigger picture of the lessons, breakdowns, friendships, joys, tears, and sacrifices we make. I love what I do but I’m even more in love with the experiences and people that fill my life as an artist. Our bookings (or lack thereof) don’t define our worth as artists or people. If you’re reading this, please go do the thing that you’re afraid of (even if it’s just believing in yourself). Remember, ***It’s not that serious*** - as long as we are happy, healthy, and have a community of support. That’s all that matters. I have those things. I’m so lucky. I’m a puddle on the floor as I type this.
