Frau Holle aka Frau Zeller, die Königin der Wolkentorten, BAUT! ??☁️
Genau die Sahnehaube, die wir gerade brauchen: Anette, Bäckermeisterin in vierter Generation, war eine der ersten, die 2011 mit Käsekuchen und Florentiner Teil des neuen Wochenmarkts und somit der Markthalle Neun wurden.
Seit Ende 2017 gibt es die Idee, in die Markthalle zu ziehen und hier eine permanente Produktion aufzubauen. Drei Jahre, viele verworfene Baupläne und Bärentatzen später ist es soweit. Die erste Tortenvitrine steht an dem Ort, der sich in wenigen Wochen zur süßesten Manufaktur der Halle verwandeln wird. Ab März soll hier gebacken werden, Dienstag und Mittwoch mit Fokus auf Gebäck und Rührkuchen (Mamorkuchen-Tage!), donnerstags plant ihr Schwager Federico zum #streetfoodthursday Churros (!) zu machen, am Wochenende gibt es Anettes legendäre Sahnetorten. Da werfen auch wir die Hände hoch! ???

Frau Holle aka Frau Zeller, the queen of cloud cakes is BUILDING! ????
Just the cream topping we need right now: Anette, a fourth-generation master baker, was one of the first to become part of the new weekly market and thus Markthalle Neun in 2011 with cheesecakes and Florentines.
Since the end of 2017, she has the idea to move to the market hall and establish a permanent production here. Three years, many discarded construction plans and Bärentatzen cookies later, the time has come: the first cake showcase is in place, which in a few weeks will be transformed into the sweetest manufactory in the hall. Starting in March, she will be baking here, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a focus on pastries and sponge cakes (marble cake days!), on Thursdays her brother in law Federico plans to make churros (!) for #streetfoodthursday, and on weekends there will be Anette's legendary cream cakes. We’ll if that’s not a reason to throw our hands up too! ???

Genauso komplex ist aber auch die Landwirtschaft und der Handel dahinter - wo kauft ihr Zitronen & co, worauf achtet ihr beim Einkauf und wer erntet eigentlich unsere Orangen? Unsere Freunde von @gebana.official machen genau zu dem Thema großartige Zitrus-Arbeit und zeigen: Orangen haben viele Gesichter! Und auch Orangen sind politisch. Bei ihnen könnt ihr als Crowdorder ganze Kisten voller Grapefruits und Orangen bestellen - und das direkt vom Feld, von Bauernfamilien aus der Region Argolida in Griechenland.

Circa 70 Kilometer sind es bis zur polnischen Grenze. Für uns ist das insofern genauso regional wie die Uckermark oder der Spreewald. Wir freuen uns sehr mit unserem neuen Wochenmarkthändler Bartosz ab jetzt einen Stand mit regionalem Obst & Gemüse aus Polen zu haben! Zur Zeit sind das verschiedene Sorten Äpfel, Kohl und Lauch, die er auf kleineren Höfen und dem Stettiner Großmarkt kauft. Und viele Gläser voller polnischer Salzgurken, grüner Tomaten und süß-saurem Kürbis!
In ein paar Monaten türmen sich hier dann polnische Erdbeeren, Spargel und Pfifferlinge. Wir können es kaum abwarten!

It is about 70 kilometers to the Polish border. For us, that is as regional as the Uckermark or Spreewald. Thus, we are very happy to have a Bartosz on our farmers market from now on! His stand with regional fruits and vegetables from Poland will be here every Friday and Saturday from now on. At the moment he sells different kinds of Polish apples, cabbage and leek, which he buys on smaller farms and the wholesale market in Stettin. He also has a tower of colorful jars full of pickled cucumbers, green tomatoes and sweet & sour pumpkin! In a few months, Polish strawberries, asparagus and chanterelles will be piled up here. Tasche vergessen? Äpfel, Schwarzkohl, Roggenbrot und der Käse türmen sich? Irgendwie ist es auf dem Wochenmarkt doch mehr geworden als geplant und eigentlich bräuchte es eine zweite Tasche?
Sieben Masterstudent*innen der Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht Berlin @officialhwrberlin erforschen gerade eine Lösung für das Taschendilemma: Ein Pfandsystem für Einkaufstaschen! Die Idee: Immer eine Tasche zur Hand – ohne jedes Mal eine neue kaufen zu müssen oder doch auf Plastiktüten zurück zu greifen. Dazu verwenden sie Jutebeutel, die bereits im Umlauf sind und stellen diese gegen ein Pfand und eine Servicegebühr zur Verfügung. Die Tasche kann dann beim nächsten Einkauf zurückgegeben werden, Ihr erhaltet das Pfand zurück und sie kümmern sich um die Reinigung der benutzten Stofftasche.
Am Samstag, dem 23. Januar, steht die Gruppe in der Markthalle auf dem Wochenmarkt, stellt sich vor und nimmt bei ihrer Sammelaktion Taschen entgegen. Habt Ihr ein paar Jutebeutel zuhause liegen, die Ihr nicht mehr braucht? Dann spendet sie für ein nachhaltigeres Einkaufen für alle!

Forgot your bag? Apples, black cabbage, rye bread and cheese piling up? Somehow you bought more than planned on the farmers market and you really need a second bag? We‘ve all been there.
Seven Master's students at the Berlin School of Economics and Law @officialhwrberlin are currently researching a solution for this dilemma: a deposit system for shopping bags. The idea is to always have a bag at hand - without having to buy a new one every time or having to resort to plastic bags. To do this, they use jute bags that are already in circulation and make them available for a deposit and a service fee. The bag can then be returned the next time you shop, you get the deposit back and they take care of cleaning the used cloth bag.
On Saturday 23 January, the group will be in the Market Hall at the weekly market, introducing themselves and accepting bags at their collection event. Do you have a few jute bags lying around at home that you no longer need? Then donate them for more sustainable shopping for all!

2020 – das Jahr der Masken, Hygienemaßnahmen und fehlenden Tische. Wir vermissen Euch – wie Ihr mittags rund um unsere Biertische sitzt, am Donnerstagabend die Gänge füllt, die Gläser hebt, Freunde trefft, Essen genießt und diskutiert.
Ja, wir vermissen viele und vieles in diesem Jahr, aber wir sind auch dankbar: Was in dem Durcheinander hoch 20 geblieben ist, sind die vielen verschiedenen Menschen, die unsere schöne Markthalle ausmachen, vor und hinter den Ständen. Danke an alle, die unter der Maske weiter gelächelt, weitergekocht, gebacken und eingemacht haben – und jeden Tag weiterhin in der Halle standen.
Alles war anders, aber Ihr wart trotzdem da. Vor und hinter den Ständen. Und dafür wollen wir Euch danken! ❤️❤️❤️ Wir wünschen Euch einen guten Start in ein hoffentlich besseres Jahr!

2020 - the year of masks, hygiene measures and missing tables. We miss you - sitting around our beer tables at lunchtime, filling the aisles on Thursday evening, raising glasses, meeting friends, enjoying food and discussing it.
Yes, we miss many and much this year, but we are also grateful: What has remained in this complete mess of a year are the many different people who make up our beautiful market hall, in front of and behind the stalls. Thank you to everyone who continued to smile, cook, bake and preserve under the mask - and continued to stand in the hall every day.

Egal wie klein Eure Feier heute sein mag - wir haben bis 16 Uhr alles da vom Rohmilch-Raclettekäse bis zum Rieslingsekt, um dieses Jahr gebührend zu verabschieden und auf ein neues, hoffentlich besseres anzustoßen. So eng aneinander gereiht wie diese Kohlköpfe werden wir wohl dieses Weihnachtsfest nicht mit all unseren Liebsten sein. Aber auch im kleinen Kreis, ja oder gerade dann und gerade in diesem Jahr, sollten wir mit gutem Essen zelebrieren. Statt mit einem großen Topf Käsefondue vielleicht nur mit einem kleinem Mont-d‘Or von @alte_milch aus dem Ofen, statt einem großen Vogel vielleicht nur einen Schenkel von @kumpelkeule und statt einem ganzen Rotkohl vielleicht nur ein paar karamellisierte Rosenkohl von Baronick - in jedem Fall köstlich, wohltuend und ein kleines Fest. Gut, dass @sironibakery auch kleine Panettone hat. Wir haben heute bis 18 Uhr und am 24.12. bis 14 Uhr für eure kleinen Weihnachtseinkäufe geöffnet. Bleibt gesund und macht es euch trotz allem schön! ✨

But even in a small circle, yes or especially then and especially this year, we should celebrate with good food. Instead of a big pot of cheese fondue maybe just a small oven baked Mont-d'Or from @alte_milch, instead of a big roasted bird maybe just a thigh from @kumpelkeule and instead of a whole red cabbage maybe just some caramelised brussel sprouts from Baronick- in any case delicious, comforting and a little celebration.
