It’s our tradition to take a trip and get away together for anniversary. Since we are still recovering from our move, we decided to keep it simple with a San Diego staycation with the boys⛵️☀️ A beach day and paddle boarding in November?! Yes please ????‍♀️ It was the boys first time on a paddle board and I’m so proud of them. It was special being in Pacific Beach because that’s where Ryan and I met 13 years ago ???? We celebrated our anniversary dinner at one of our favorite restaurants @costabravasd and had to do an ice cream stop for the boys at @stellajeansicecream ???? I surprised Ryan by booking us a private training session and wow that was intense! I don’t recommend drinking a beer and hot tubbing for an hour before a workout with @soyelmeromeroo ????but we got through it together! Happy anniversary to my love @ryanbuildswealth ????

I got to tour the @sunbum west coast HQ for an upcoming shoot and OMG — total brand shoot heaven!????☀️ Here’s what I always look for when scouting a location ???? 1️⃣ Lighting: Light first, always! I’ll choose good light over the prettiest background any day. For indoor spaces, I usually pop my strobe up for that even glow, but if there’s beautiful natural light, I’ll take it. 2️⃣ Backgrounds: I want variety, especially since different people will glow best on different backgrounds. It all depends on their outfit and hair color. I look for open shade areas that will work even when the sun moves. And spots with a little distance behind my subject so I can get that dreamy background blur while keeping their face beautifully lit. 3️⃣ Flow: With 5-minute sessions, the setup has to flow. I choose areas close together that has options for standing, leaning, and a sitting pose — clients get tons of variety without running around. Luckily Sun Bum has so many cool chairs, couches, and steps! Honestly, narrowing it down at Sun Bum was the hardest part because every corner was a vibe ???? What do you look for when scouting locations? Did I miss anything?

One of my favorite things to do is to take myself out for a solo date. I know it’s not for everyone, but when I get the opportunity to be alone, it feels so luxurious.
