10 years of travel writing. 10 years of being so grateful I didn’t die jumping in that shallow pool in Thailand. This week marks ten years since my *big accident* abroad — and living to tell the tale. It’s also the week I won the Gold Award for the Lowell Thomas Travel Journalist of the Year by the Society of American Travel Writers. I always get overwhelmed by gratitude around the “anniversary” of my head wound. I am SO GRATEFUL for the people who helped me that night and the years to follow as I recovered from the dumbest thing I’ve ever done, then started chasing my dream of becoming a writer in earnest. A decade of hope and luck. THANK YOU!! Photo/video credit to Monica Rodman / @mo__ranaway, The Washington Post, Ryan Siphers.

Dan and I got married on 5.4.24. Our families got us to the aisle. Our Nick officiated. We accidentally French kissed to really seal the deal.
Bobby Muncy played “My Funny Valentine” on the sax — a tribute to my late grandpa Willard and also a perfect song, with the apt ending:

“But don’t change a hair for me Not if you care for me Stay little valentine stay Each day is Valentines day.”

Thank you Bryan Martinez who captured it all on camera, Leah Debber who essentially produced, and Mo Rodman who played last-minute videographer!!!

You’ve got time to kill at the train station. Your stomach is growling. What’s a traveler to do? At the Moynihan Train Hall in New York, there’s no shortage of options. Sushi. Deli. Tacos. And pizza, of course. @natbco and @mo__ranaway tried a little bit of everything. Here’s what they loved, and what you can skip.
