How do you create captivating performances for music’s biggest hitmakers? Just ask Nick Florez and RJ Durell, creative producers of the MTV Video Music Awards, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary. The UTA clients oversaw this year’s musical productions, including Eminem’s opener and Benson Boone’s first performance on the VMA stage. They also reunited with Katy Perry for her Vanguard performance; the duo previously choreographed her 2013 VMA number for “Roar.” This isn’t the first time viewers will see the duo’s creative talents at the marquee MTV event (which this year is executive produced and showrun by fellow UTA client Ashley Edens): Florez and Durell also worked with Pink and Britney Spears on their performances tied to their Vanguard Award wins.
