As we move past November and #diabetesawareness month, please remember to eat responsibly this holiday season…and by “responsibly”  I mean, slow down on the sweets! ????????????????????  You too non-diabetics and yes I realize it’s the holiday season ????  but what we all need to realize is that complacency about unhealthy blood sugar levels is a bad idea for everyone (swipe ???????? to hear the brilliant @drmaggiecadet break down the harm). ????Furthermore, eating every single sweet thing in sight because “the holidays made you do it” will be the exact reason your healthy resolutions fail at the beginning of next year.

My face when I finally try the “healthy cafe” that had a “coming soon” sign in the window for 10 months (all throughout quarantine of course) and it lives up to every single negative stereotype about healthy food!

That WAAAY over priced, bland AF, so freakin boring I could fall asleep just thinking about it AND it couldn’t have been further from what it was described as on the menu-type of BS food.  Swipe ⬅️ to see what I paid $19 for (before tax and tip)-and to be clear, I’m no cheapskate when it comes to what I put into my body, but this was a joke and also highway robbery.  Like, how do you actually serve these ingredients for that price? It’s f@#cking chopped greens and oil!  The couple of cucumbers and the 3 slices of tomato added zero value (or taste)!

I won’t shout the spot out publicly (they don’t deserve the attention) but if you live in NYC and want to avoid this gross, ridiculous, overhyped, obnoxious waste of money dm me and I’ll fill you in.

And yes I said *TREAT* day because when you work hard and try your best to live your healthiest life a TREAT is what you deserve.  Plus only a ???? would want to cheat themself, and out of what anyway?

Anywaaaay about the pizza.  It’s @eatbanza chickpea crust, topped with spicy tomato sauce (#flavorprep of the week), homemade nut cheese, zucchini, fresh basil and pepperoni!!

PS making your own nut cheese is actually much easier than you’d imagine but @kitehillfoods almond ricotta works well too!

????cooking with seasonal veggies is ALWAYS a good idea
????veggies should NEVER be treated as an afterthought.
????Experimenting with new (to you) vegetables is the right (and LITE) thing to do! You never know what ???? flavor and/or what valuable nutrients you could be missing out on.  After trying yu choy sum (Chinese flowering cabbage) for the first time I was ???? and beyond ????????????????!! It’s delicate, almost buttery flavor is like no green I’ve ever tasted plus the vitamin A, calcium,
folic acid and potassium it added to my meal…????bonus points for my body!
???? The other takeaway for me was: cook swordfish more often!  Pan searing it in a touch of olive oil with lemon juice, fresh herbs and capers then putting it over rice noodle pasta tossed with seasonal squash and shallots is ????☄️????????⚡️✨????
