Last week, I shared how much I love senior dogs and hope to feature more of their stories here. But sometimes that also means honoring the most tender moments of goodbye. Meet Oliver (aka @oliverthelovepug), a cherished member of the Columbus Square community who today had one final picnic surrounded by his loving family and friends. Though age may have taken much of his hearing and sight, the joy he felt was unmistakable—especially when a cheesesteak from @genossteaks was placed gently in front of him. Wishing you peace on your journey over the rainbow bridge, sweet Ollie. Thank you for letting so many of us be part of your final goodbye. ????❤️
Hi friends in Philly, Oliver’s final picnic is among us and we would love to have whoever is able to come out and shower him with pets, cheese, and meat. It has been the honor of a lifetime to have such a perfect bond with a dog as incredible as him, and I’m so happy to know he has so many friends that would want to show up for him one last time. We will be in the grass at Columbus Square Park on 13th and Reed in South Philly from 5-7pm (maybe longer if he’s enjoying the party)???? Please come and give him a pet, a bite of meat or cheese, or whatever else you would like to love him with.
Thank you for being his friend for the last 15 years, you’ve given us the most incredible lives.
Today should have been Oliver’s 15th birthday and it marks eight days since we said goodbye to him. The outpouring of love during this time has been overwhelming, the hundreds of photos from his goodbye memorial, and more. Oliver left a lot to be celebrated, please comment with a story of a time with him or how he made your day a little brighter.
Thank you to @aus_ight for these photos!
