MEXICO I LOVE YOU ❤️

[*save + *share your experience!]

In May I ended up in Mexico City by chance when I had nowhere to go after a brief jaunt in the US to get my vaxx.
Honestly, Mexico was the cheapest flight. I thought I’d hang out for 3 days and then fly out somewhere “cooler”. Little did I know I would end up spending 3 months of 2021 in the country ????

Las Grutas Tolantongo taught me that the best things take time—a lot of time!—but can be more beautiful than we imagine.

Mexico City taught me to embrace the unplanned and to see the freedom in chaos. And helped me get better at salsa y bachata! ????????

Oaxaca fed me the most delicious food EVER, and let me reconnect with my spirit at Hierve el Agua and during a temazcal (sweat lodge).

Cabo San Lucas taught me even more about how we interact with the sea and about wild life conservation.

Playa Del Carmen showed me to warmth of being surrounded by my Black immigrant/expat community, which was much needed and amazing to see our integration to a Mexican lifestyle, language, and culture!

Guadalajara showed me the future of work, life, and tech balance (the next Silicon Valley, y’all!)

And all over Mexico my curly hair, poor Spanglish, and solo traveling self was more than tolerated, I was embraced and welcomed!

I know there are good and bad perceptions about Mexico. Some deserved, MOST not.

Viva Mexico! A truly beautiful country with truly beautiful people, inside and out.

???? in order: Las Greta’s Tolantonga, Mexico City, Hierve El Agua (Oaxaca), Cabo San Lucas

If you’ve been to Mexico did you like it? What surprised you most?
