Today is a friggin’ milestone! So at Week 20, I found out that I had an insufficient cervix (greeeeeat name), formerly known as an incompetent cervix (WOW I mean…) which meant my cervix was shortening and could potentially open up as the baby gets larger. Think of the cervix as the bat mobile garage door from your uterus to the vagina. ???? The potential problem is that I could go into preterm labor and the baby couldn’t survive (too early for NICU). This only happens to about 1% of pregnant women which was why it was super hard to find info about it. Thank you to all the women who did share! Fortunately, there is a preventive solution! It’s called a cerclage (actually a cool name) and it’s basically a stitch on your cervix to close that garage door shut. That and putting progesterone pills up my va-jayjay. On Week 21 (with a 0.8cm cervix ????), I decided to do the surgery and it went well! It was a one day outpatient surgery and I even got a taste of an epidural (also chill). For the next 15 weeks, I was told to be on Pelvic Rest (which isn’t bed rest), but what doctors deem as pelvic rest seems to vary. My docs said: no penetrative sex (awwww), heavy lifting (I don’t lift bruh), or any movement that could potentially rip the stitch (okayyyyy). Some docs go as far as bed rest and no orgasms? Woof, unsubscribe to that. Overall, everything was fine except for this slight ever present paranoia that I could potentially rip it and feeling swollen/achey bc I couldn’t really exercise as much as I wanted to. Well, NOT TODAY FRIENDS! I made it to 36 weeks, officially nine months along, and my OBGYN removed the cerclage stitch. Woo! This morning I did a “Full Splits in 30 days” YouTube video JUST CUZ I COULD and it felt great. Ha! I barely touched my toes but it’s just that I could even fathom the idea of splits. I have nooooo idea if my “eager” cervix has anything to do with my fibroids, but whatever, the cerclage worked for me!

Started making a breakfast reel for @cheerios … but then I saw Frankie’s big-sis moves, her new words. Heard Arlo’s grunts. Watched him study Frankie use a spoon while he went full Beauty and the Beast with his Cheerios (which he loves!). His little dance. Her tiny laugh. She’s 41 today!!! Let me tell you—Scream Baths are all the rage if you need a release. I’ve had 20 birthdays in LA, from Venice to DTLA to Highland Park.
