I have been severely inactive on social media and I have no real excuse for it - I just haven’t wanted to post. If I’m honest, I actually found coming on here and seeing people’s posts really difficult for the past couple of months, when there was so much upheaval in my own life. I was “supposed” to be posting regularly, promoting my book etc etc, but instead I actively avoided logging on because I just didn’t want to look at everyone’s perfect life or pretend to be happy about my own. So I took some time out, let myself feel sad for a bit, spent loads of time with loved ones… and now I’m looking for a real plot twist in the last couple of months of 2021. The year isn’t over yet.

3 weeks ago, I was planning to celebrate my birthday and my book launch One morning, I received a phone call to say my father had a few hours left to live I got the next flight to Pakistan I spent two weeks in a covid ICU ward The two men in the beds opposite my dad passed away in front of us When my dad was more stable, I organised with the airline medical team and doctors to bring him back to London On the flight back, the woman sitting next to us died My plane had to emergency land in Uzbekistan We were stuck there for over 24 hours But after the worst month of my life Reader, I have brought both my parents back home.
