I am SO EXCITED to share the cover of my book with you! Here it is! “Raising Them: Our Adventure in Gender Creative Parenting” ???⁣
⁣
I wanted the cover to be welcoming, and colorful, and joyful, and youthful, and convey possibility... and by golly did @pepcostudio deliver!⁣
⁣
The photo of Z and me was taken by @brent_courtney, and I love it so much. We had no idea at the time that this photo would end up on my book... I was just on a stroll with my kid, showing them the world.⁣
⁣
I’m honored to be one of the first authors published by the @TOPPLE imprint, curated and lovingly introduced to the world through @joeysoloway - an imprint centering the stories of LGBTQIA+ voices that I’m so proud to be a part of.⁣
⁣
You can pre-order your copy today through the link in the bio! Thank you for your support and kindness and for helping me spread my message about #GenderCreativeParenting.⁣
⁣
I hope to meet each and every one of you someday and learn more about YOUR story! ?

When Zoomer was born in 2016, I created the @raisingzoomer account. I was looking for community, searching for other people doing gender creative parenting, and over the last three years I found what I was looking for and so much more.
Brent and I created the blog, RaisingZoomer.com, and I did the TEDx Talk “Want Gender Equality? Let’s Get Creative.” I found a group of likeminded parents, and was interviewed for a feature article in New York Magazine (Google “The Cut theybies”). Our story spread and it was overwhelming and scary but rewarding. I connected with @JoeySoloway and was given a book deal through @Topple. I spent the last year writing a memoir, “RAISING THEM: Our Adventure in Gender Creative Parenting” which will come out in 2020.
I’ve been doing some soul searching and thinking about what’s next, and what feels most appropriate is coming back to *me*, Kyl. Being a gender creative parent isn’t my entire identity, but I felt like that was all I could or should post about on the @raisingzoomer account. I’ll keep this account up and public, but I’m ready to mix things up and have a more multi-faceted life online.
I don’t know what the next year or five will bring, but I want to share and reflect on my own account @kyl_myers where I feel like I can be more *me.* If you want to join me over there, please do. If you have gotten what you needed here and are ready to move on, then I’m glad that we were part of each other’s lives for a while. You all have made me feel so supported and so loved.

I am incredibly grateful for the community that we all created here and I look forward to growing it even more in a way that feels more authentic and whole for me personally.
I love you. ?

Zoomer started preschool! New year, new class, new teachers, new friends! To introduce our family to the new classmates and gently remind the families of Z’s lifelong friends about gender creative parenting, I made some “hello cards.” I wrote a little note, plopped it in a bag with a bath bomb and tied a bow of silver love. I think this year is going to be the most interesting for our family. A lot of kids, a lot of questions, a lot of exploring and declaring identities. I’m excited! • It’s important to me that other families and teachers see me as kind and approachable. It’s important for me to be someone who is considered “safe.” Safe to ask questions to; Safe to come for advice. Parents talk to me about their kids who aren’t interested in the binary; Teachers talk to me about how they are trying to make their classrooms more inclusive; Parents ask me how they can make their workspace safer for transgender and non-binary clients and colleagues. I love that Zoomer spends a big part of their day in a place that I consider “safe.” Zoomer is safe to be who they are. Zoomer has been loved by dozens of teachers and they have friends who are so happy to see them every morning that they run up and say “Zoomie!!” and give Z a big hug - because 16 hours away from each other was just too long. I hope you find our example of Hello Cards helpful, either because you plan on being a gender creative parent, or because you know you’ll meet a gender creative parent in the future and you want to support them. Here’s to the next school year, which I believe is going to be THE bathBOMB! ????

Zoomer is moving into a Preschool class on Monday! I don’t know how it’s possible that we are T-minus 2 years from Kindergarten. So I’m just gonna eat ice cream and pretend Zoomer is still a tiny baby. ???

Zoomer and their friend Finley had so much fun together at the #GenderCreativePlaygroup. Finley said, “Hi! I’m Finley and I use they/them.” They played on the playground and held hands through the International Peace Gardens and danced to Rocketship Run. When we got in the car to go home, Zoomer said, “I like my friend, Finley. They’re nice.” • My heart is full. I am so lucky to be Zoomer’s parent and so grateful to know Rose and her amazing child Finley! It was a great Playgroup and I’m already excited for the next one! ???
