Quick Review : Huracan STO . Had the pleasure of driving the Huracan STO (Super Trofeo Omologata) on track recently .. Lamborghini’s most track focused Huracan ever. . The STO is a rear-drive only Huracan that’s 43kg lighter than the Huracan Performante, generating 53 per cent more in downforce. . Driving it on track was the only way for us to experience what lambo had done to improve everything from steering feel to response .. the STO feels sharp, light and connected .. a lot more than any lambo prior. . The engine note is pure V10 music clearly dominating the driving experience wailing past where you think you should shift up .. and wow it’s LOUD for a standard exhaust from factory. . The cornering ability is fantastic with great balance and adjustability mid corner aided with a quick shifting gearbox, but what impressed me most was its braking performance from the Brembo carbon-ceramics… you could stand on it all day and it still bites hard with no fade giving you that confidence to late brake into corners. . Lamborghini have made the STO more track focused than road bais. However, if you don’t plan to drive much on track it might be wiser to get an EVO. . The driving experience is without doubt special if not the fastest car out there it delivers in an emotional sense with a raw ear bleeding scream as it goes past 8000 rpm .. we undoubtedly need to enjoy cars that can give us such thrill before it all goes electric. . Had a fantastic time drag racing the SF90 last weekend.. the fastest 1/4 mile time went to the Bugatti Chiron at 9.73 sec and I managed to get a time of 9.76 !! ..., just a .03 sec difference between the Bug and my SF90. Unfortunately the track conditions were very poor and I just couldn’t put the power down properly.. most of the McLaren’s including a 765LT struggled with grip due to a slippery track caused by humidity and add to that the high ambient temperature created heat soak. I have no doubt all the cars would have run much better times under different conditions. Perhaps during the winter season ..
