Chicken Yakitori ~ A deliciously sweet & savory caramelized grilled chicken skewer. #ad

We’re stepping up our summer sports snacking game with a reduced-sugar Yakitori. We remixed Naomi’s favorite recipe with @Truvia Original Sweetener to deliver the dish’s signature sweet & savory finish with less sugar. Yakitori is an iconic Japanese dish and this recipe has been in her family for years. We were excited to get the entire family involved in the process -- from making the sauce to threading and grilling the chicken.

And, Truvia Original Sweetener, a calorie-free sweetener made from stevia leaf extract, delivers the signature sweet & savory caramelized lacquered finish of Yakitori. Let the games begin!

Chicken Yakitori
Serves 6

2 lbs. boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup mirin
1/2 cup sake
1 tablespoon Truvia Original Sweetener
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 tablespoon chili garlic sauce

To make the yakitori sauce, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, Truvia Original Sweetener, canola oil and chili garlic sauce in a small saucepan, over high heat and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, let simmer until the sauce is reduced by a 1/3, about 20 minutes. Cool to room temperature before using or storing. The sauce will thicken as it cools.

Set aside 1/3 of the sauce for dipping. Pour the remainder into a bowl and toss with chicken. Leave chicken to marinade for 30 minutes.
