I don't know where to begin, so let's start with this. This moment is 10-year-old Ruby's dream come true. Ruby who wanted to see her book on a shelf in a bookstore but knew how far-reaching that wish was. Ruby who collected second-hand dog-eared copies of books by the remarkable @penguinrandomhouse —unaware that one day they would publish her book too. Unreal. I can't begin to explain how I'm feeling. My emotions are all over the place, my heart is beating ten-fold and I can feel a sliver of nerves shooting through me —this is everything I have worked for. Everything. I am so, SO happy, nervous, proud, over-the-moon and excited to announce that my book is finally coming out into the world on 13 June 2024 and is available to pre-order! I've worked on 'The Path to Self-Love' tirelessly for the last two years and it has been the hardest thing I've done —but I can't limit it to those two years alone. This book is an accumulation of my life's experiences, emotions, hard lessons and growth —that have shaped my healing journey— which I've transformed into a nourishing and honest guide that will heal your heart, unlock your inner strength, and help you harness the power of self-love to transform all areas of your life. This book is my vulnerabilities, my fears, my heart and soul put into one. What makes this experience invaluable is that my dream publishing house @penguinrandomhouse is bringing this piece of my heart into the world! I just can't. It's surreal to me. It's only been a few weeks since I did my TEDx talk, but I still haven't come down from the high that I got from it —which is surprising to me because I was expecting the same kind of low that I felt after the high of releasing my book. But the TEDx talk is still in my mind as though it were yesterday, and I can't get over HOW INCREDIBLE these photos are. Like what. Just look at them. Wow. Sharing my story was exciting and a little nerve-wracking, but the whole experience reminded me how powerful connection can be. If there's anything I learned from this experience, it's this: 1. Embrace your vulnerability: Opening up about my journey was soo scary, but only at first —because once I got on stage and said what I had to, I felt so free. So at ease. As though a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Sharing my story helped me connect with people in a way that was incredibly special that day. 2. The journey is important: Getting on stage was magical, but the journey of getting to the stage was even more special. The months of planning, the endless meetings, the adrenaline that ramped up as the TEDx event got closer and the two days of events all encompassed the most memorable experience for me. I'll never forget what I learned along the way. 3. The magic of storytelling: TEDx events are invaluable in what they can teach you and I will always love them for this. Everyone has a story worth sharing, and they can really inspire others in a way we might not even realise. 3. Connection is everything: If there's anything I'm taking from this experience, it's this. I had the opportunity to meet so many incredible people and build new relationships —this made the experience even more special. 4. Celebrate every win: Whether big or small, every step forward is worth celebrating. This was a huge milestone for me, so I celebrated it and will continue to celebrate it —because that's how special it was. A huge thank you to everyone who cheered me on. Your support means so much! Your girl just did a TEDx TALK!! What a time to be alive. This week has been absolutely surreal, and yesterday was the most special day ever —because I fulfilled my dream of doing a TEDx Talk, and what a moment it was. I'm sooo grateful to @tedxteesside for giving me the opportunity to stand on stage, on that infamous red circle, and share my story and my healing/self-love journey.
