Living in New York in 2001, it was impossible not to escape the impact of that time. In Cabo, I found myself edging closer to the dangerous swells, drawn in by their force. Only later did I realise this image mirrored the turbulence I was carrying — making it one of my most emotional works. Limited edition available online now. @cameraworkgallery

At the height of COVID, when the world was in near total shutdown, Sacha and I found ourselves locked down on the same continent in Australia. With the award season approaching and Sacha carrying significant nominations, we wanted to capture something that wasn’t a character or parody — just the real Sacha. My interest has always been in people. The portraits are about more than what happens in front of the camera; they are built on the quiet trust that forms off it. At first light, I watched the sun rise over some of the oldest rocks in the world, marked with fossilised dinosaur footprints. This remote place, only accessible by boat, felt almost untouched — a reminder of how few people will ever lay eyes on it. Part of my Belong series, inspired by the Kimberley region of Western Australia, a landscape that has shaped me since my teenage years and continues to influence my work today.of my defining works in the Angels series. From 2001 to 2019, I spent countless days behind the lens capturing Victoria’s Secret’s Angels — a concept that took the world by storm. Each year, the brand’s fashion show drew an audience larger than every other fashion show in the world combined. In 2017, I published Backstage Secrets — created with the models, musicians, and creative teams who made the phenomenon what it was. Exhibited in New York, Berlin, and Shanghai, it remains one of my most celebrated works. More than a book, it’s a record of two decades of creativity, collaboration, and chaos that defined an era. Here’s to the next 20 years.
