Sawtasura is a collaborative platform dedicated to collecting record of women’s musical history in Saudi Arabia.
We collect audio visual material of women musicians, as well as samples of folk music performed by women in Saudi.
First sample of the archive will be presented on www.sawtasura.org by March 2021.
Whether you are a formal/informal vocalist, expert and collector of women’s private/formal music records, or would like to contribute by recording a scarcely known musical tradition performed by women, all your rights on the archive will be reserved.

#repost @miskartinst • @lauralouiseegerton It’s been an exhilarating 10 weeks and a great privilege to be given the opportunity to put together a dynamic programme of panel discussions and conversations between 68 inspiring experts in the fields of arts and culture, design, film, new technology, architecture, heritage and entrepreneurship alongside roundtables and networking sessions, 6 masterclasses, 21 workshops, film screenings and 3 major exhibitions for the fourth edition of #miskartweek. And the good news? It’s not only happening in Riyadh but online as well. Click in the link in my bio to register and you can watch all sessions live from this Thursday 3 December. Titled ‘Culture Recultivated’, the programme begins by focusing on the self, on how creatives form their identities, how they are inspired by past traditions and elements in their environment. Sessions on Friday 4 December - the future is now - expands to explore how to find connections - through a study of nostalgia, via archiving, in the fields of new technology and design. On Saturday 5 December we look at the bigger picture, on models of creative entrepreneurship, on new cities that foster creative spaces, the value of place making, the role of the heritage industry, commissioning organisations and residencies in generating cultural production.
