The backbone of Seva Food Bank - our volunteers.

Seva Food Bank would be incomplete without the support of our generous and dedicated volunteers. Without their tireless commitment, we would be unable to fulfill our mission of providing a safe environment for vulnerable and underprivileged families, to be able to access food and basic supplies.

With the recent unfortunate events of COVID-19 unfolding, our volunteers have continued to provide their unwavering assistance, when our clients have needed them most.

In 2020, Seva Food Bank saw the number of new families accessing our food bank services, increase by 40% versus this time last year - these are people who have never needed to use a food bank previously. In September and October, Seva served over 1,000 families each month - for the first time ever in our history.

Meet Satinder, a Seva volunteer.

On today’s spotlight we are featuring Satinder Pal Singh. Satinder Pal emigrated to Canada in 2014 and with a professional background in Mechanical Engineering.

Satinder Pal came across Seva Food Bank through a tagged post by a friend on Instagram (the positive power of social media!). He then researched into Seva without any delay, was inspired by the cause and signed up to be a volunteer right away. When asked why Satinder Pal chose to volunteer with Seva Food Bank, Satinder Pal said he “found it very kind way of giving back to the community” and thought this was a “beautiful opportunity” to take on.

Thank you Satinder Pal, for your positivity and never-ending commitment to making a difference in our local community. Your support is immensely valuable in ensuring our clients do not go hungry.
