Over the last year the most important relationship I didn’t know I needed to grow & heal was the one with myself. I got to slow down and shed parts of me that were no longer serving the good of me. I’m beyond grateful for this silver lining in a year of uncertainties.

As a slight perfectionist (I blame the Virgo in me) I tend to give a cocktail different looks when I ?.

I’m usually between a few images when posting, hence how the “Pic Game” started. Just found this picture that I somehow completely overlooked, from a year ago, while going thru old content.

While we’re all aware a lot of things can change overtime, I’m still definitely not mad at this cocktail.

Happy Cinco De Mayo IG Fam.

I love learning new information and absorbing all new things ... especially those related to & revolving around cocktails and different cultures from all over the world.

That being said, figured I’d maybe expose you to an Agave spirit that you may be unfamiliar with: Bacanora.

I was introduced to this spirit in 2012 by a passionate spirits rep, and the love affair soon began. To begin with, Bacanora is a regional Mezcal that has to be produced in Sonora, a NW state of Mexico that can be only made from wild agave (Pacifica). Similar to Mezcal the Pina’s are cooked in below ground ovens.

The dry, arid climate, hot days & cold nights, of Sonora give Bacanora a unique signature flavor: dry, complex, and peppery, with an earthy finish. It was actually illegal to distill until 1992 , and is still a rare find on a back bar or shelf. There’s definitely more information out there, so I’ll let you dive in if you’re inspired.

My message for the day: Have a healthy relationship & especially honor the culture of what’s in your glass & on your plate. The ?, in my opinion, would be a much kinder place if we all did.

#ad If you know me, you know I love a good classic cocktail riff. For this one I partnered up with @legentbourbon , a first-of-its-kind super-premium bourbon that brings East and West together, melding Kentucky distilling tradition with Japanese blending excellence.

This Old Fashioned riff was so fun to create. I’m a huge fan of split basing the called for 1/2 oz sugar /sugar cube. For this one I used cinnamon syrup and banana liqueur. For the bitters, I used Sarsaparilla for those root beer notes, which really helped tie these notes together. I definitely ain't mad at it!

CHANGE MY TUNE
2 parts Legent®
1/4 part Cinnamon Syrup
1/4 part Banana Liqueur
2 Dashes Sarsaparilla Bitters
? Twist
