We’ll@be needing a set of coasters stat @raising.kinley ? ——————————————— #Repost @raising.kinley ・・・ Our first week of @blossomandroot Math in Art was all about Kandinsky so we decided to give concentric circles a try ourselves but @artfulteaching.joyfullearning’s way — on tree slices! You know, KandinskTrees? ??? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Well, okay, ours aren’t actually on legit tree slices like Alana’s showstoppers ? We couldn’t find any of the actual ones with the perfectly imperfect concentric circles built right in at the craft store, but these wooden discs worked out just fine! ??? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We used our trusty @crayola trifecta to rainbowfy them — washable watercolors + oil pastels + glitter glue! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Aren’t they pretty? I thought I'd left it a little late in the year to share these Jellyfish we made in July, but as Shannon @oh.creative.day is hosting #craftthezoo this week for @makingwithmommy, with the theme of 'The Coral Reef', then I thought it was the perfect time to share them...googly eyes, tentacles & all! . . We started with paper plates, paint and salad spinners, And finished with googly eyes, ribbons and a whole lot of threading! With bells threaded onto pipe cleaners they made the loveliest sound when all 30 Jellyfish were hanging by the classroom window. . . It was such a fun project...but also one for a time of talking about our world, it's future and what we need to do to help it. . . These hot glue gun stamps from @cara_florance are a fun (and cheap!!) way to plus up playdough!! ——————————————— #Repost @cara_florance ・・・ I whipped out the glue gun and some cardboard again to make these mythical creature playdough stamps for #mythical_simple_play and we can’t get enough. We are currently brainstorming additional animal body parts to add. Duck? Jellyfish? Giraffe? All you have to do is roughly draw various body parts of animals on cardboard and outline them with hot glue. Try to make the joining parts (like waist to hips, neck to shoulders) the same size on each creature so everything fits nicely together no matter the combination. Then press them into rolled out playdough! I’ve taken a picture of every one of her creations so far, but you can see my favorite if you swipe. Before I freaked out, I inquired about the severed human head impaled on the unicorn horn (not in those words). She informed me that it is a headband, and just like she has a unicorn headband to wear, this unicorn has a human headband to wear. ?? Really just the best thing ever. The human head on the horse butt, however, is a human head on the horse butt, naturally. ANYWAYS, it is lots of fun making your own mythical creature! Not that these are necessary life skills, but we went over some of the more common mythical creatures like centaurs, mermaids, Pegasus, and minotaurs, but I also learned that a mer-horse is called a hippocampus!
