It was 2023 when I discovered the Dev Diwali celebrations at Banganga in Mumbai and that’s when I said to myself, I don’t know if I’ll ever be blessed enough to attend Assi Ghat’s Ganga aarti, but I will make sure I will attend the Ganga Aarti at Banganga in 2024. Destiny, sadly had other plans for me in 2024 and I spent Dev Diwali sulking for I wasn’t able to attend the Aarti at Banganga, but the universe had other plans. Little did I know that in less than a year, I would be blessed with an impromptu trip to Kashi, where not only would I live on the banks of Ganga ji, but have the privilege to experience the Ganga Aarti at Assi Ghat (Subah e Banaras), the evening Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat (that’s not missed a single day since centuries) and also the Mangala Aarti at Kashi Vishwanathji amongst many others. This truly made me realise, once again, that we really need to trust the universe because we don’t know what it has in store for us, but it’s always better than what we dream of! Trust the delays god allows; for he is bringing all the pieces together. With the onset of winters in Mumbai (yes it’s cold), while walking towards Carter Road promenade, we spotted a banner that said Sizzling Brownie sundae’s are now available and I knew it was a sign (or a PMS craving) that just had to be fulfilled! We walked into @browniecottage and were welcomed by the lovely owner and had so much fun taking to her. She helped me select my brownie and when the sizzling brownie came to the table, I was amazed (the food of course was good, that’s what makes Brownie Cottage legendary) but the cool sea brew axe coming from Carter road and th warmth of the sizzling brownie felt like a hug I didn’t know I needed! On a casual Friday evening post work, a colleague and I landed up at this cosy Bandra café on 16th Road – and the food did not disappoint. From the matcha latte and pesto paneer millet dosa to a classic cheese chilli toast, everything set the mood right. But here’s the star – a surprise tiramisu waffle (not even on the menu yet!) suggested by Vishnu, our server. In a world of tiramisu lattes, this waffle was a game-changer.
