Phew. 2024 was one of the hardest, yet most transformative years of my life. I had to completely start over and rebuild an entirely new foundation that’s more sustainable for my health and happiness. To be honest, it’s still under construction, but I feel way more stable than ever before. I couldn’t be where I am today without my family, friends, meditation, Pilates, and a little help from nature’s best. Here’s to 2025 ????

Feels good to be writing again ???? When I was eleven, I stumbled upon “The Secret Language of Birthdays” by Gary Goldschneider. Each birthday had a mantra, and mine - a one-liner about quitting - absolutely horrified me. Quitting felt like failure back then, but recently, it’s started to make a lot more sense. In my latest dispatch, “The Courage to Quit,” I explore and destigmatize this daunting little q-word (and I’m not just talking about jobs). The Substack link is in my bio - subscribe if it resonates! I discovered Classical Pilates 4 years ago, and it completely transformed my body and mind. This year - a demanding year that has forced me to reexamine my whole life - I took the leap to deepen my practice and pursue teacher certification. This work has been medicine for me, and I love seeing it act as medicine for others. I’m excited to introduce my Classical Pilates practice housed under @pilatesbytalun! Pilates has been a powerful healing tool in my life. I used to carry so much weight - physically in the gym, mentally at work, and emotionally in life. It took a toll: I injured my back so severely in 2020 that I needed surgery; I burned out at work these past few years to the point of physical illness (headaches, rashes, even internal bleeding); and as a result, my mental health spiraled into depression. Dedicating myself to this low-impact practice that strengthens and lengthens the body has opened me up in ways I never thought possible. It opened my body, and in turn, opened my mind. Despite life’s uncertainties as of late (perhaps I’ll write about this), I feel the strongest and happiest I’ve ever been. It’s an honor to carry on the work of Joseph Pilates and keep his legacy alive. As a 3rd-generation instructor, I’m proud to be training under teachers who were trained by Pilates’ original students, Jay Grimes and Romana Kryzanowska. I’m now accepting beginner private clients for in-studio sessions in West Hollywood, CA.
