Happy Nisga’a Day.

Today marks the 21st anniversary since the implementation of the Nisg̱a’a Treaty, the first modern-day treaty in B.C. and the fourteenth modern treaty in Canada to be negotiated since 1976.

The Nisga'a Treaty provides for an open, democratic and accountable Nisga'a Government, and establishes decision-making authority within a model that the Nisga'a have been accustomed to and have accepted for many years.

This Earth Day, let's celebrate by reflecting on how we can lessen the impact to the wild, pristine spaces that draw us into and around Northern BC. From practicing 'leave no trace' principles and honouring local customs, to reusing hotel towels and supporting small, independent restaurants and shops, we can all work together to build more sustainable travel habits. For more information on how to travel responsibly (when the time is right), visit the link in our profile.

Remember, now is not the time to travel. Until further notice, all non-essential travel to and within BC should be avoided. Dream now, explore BC later.

The town of Penny (pop. 11), is about 130 km east of Prince George and a perfect jump-off point for outdoor adventure. With the longer days upon us, it's a great time to squeeze in the last bit of winter (and take in some stunning sunsets). ?@the.adventure.bus
