Holidays can be stressful. And I’m a firm believer that the humble cheese plate may be the antidote. #ad They’re packed with wonder and whimsy, as well as vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, and protein from the cheese itself. By focusing on adding protein, fiber, and healthy fats to meals and snacks, I know I’m helping keep my blood sugar stable, which thereby helps with energy and satiation.  I know I can always count on dairy as the star of the show for any cheese plate. I am so thrilled to be partnering with @NewEnglandDairy this holiday season. I love New England dairy products, as well as their focus on sustainability, the environment, and cost/food accessibility. Thank you to our local dairy farmers! As a born and bred New Englander, I am a lifelong fan. What’s your favorite cheese?

While I absolutely love my job, I’ve accepted that the things that have enabled some amount of success within my professional life may be somewhat maladaptive in my personal life, preventing me from really basking in levity, light, and happiness. So I’m trying to take a softer approach to wellbeing, emphasizing feeling good, and making happiness an active practice. There are many renditions of this, though I’ve decided I’m going to try something called ’Soft 70’ starting on Monday. From the list below, my goal is to aim for 5 of the bullet points per day. I may do more, I may do less; perfection isn't the goal. And I expect every day to be different and therefore to have different needs, hence this list allows for some variability. There’s room for flexibility and imperfection. 70 soft - 5 bullet points most days within the next 30(ish) days. And *presence*, really experiencing it, while doing it. Here’s what it entails: * immerse in nature * get outside * do one thing for the sole purpose of it feeling good. no other reason. * keep your social media restrictions * vagal nerve stimulation: laugh, sing, breathe deeply, chant, cry * sit in silence for 10-15 minutes * romanticize one small thing * one act of service for another * one act of friendliness towards others * write down persistent negative thoughts and reframe them to positive ones * write down a list of things that went well at the end of the day * 3 things you’re grateful for * list of things you like about yourself and the unique things you bring to the world * pay attention to what soothes/recharges you, write it down, and carve out time for it * do nothing. like really do NOTHING. without guilt I’ll be writing about this journey weekly in my newsletter. This week’s newsletter also has this amazing, downloadable graphic made by @taylorannecreative! Link in bio for sign up.

Last week around this time, I was getting home from the most unforgettable experience. Surrounded myself with the most wonderful group of women as part of the @the.metreat hosted by @lisahayim and @traceyveronica. I kept this experience and its magic close, though spent some time reflecting, downloading and integrating over the last week. Now available to read in the newsletter! Link in bio and on stories.

Confession: I did my skincare routine and got in my pajamas before noon today. And I’m taking that same mentality (premature endings) into this month. I know there are technically 5 more days of January, but let’s just wrap it up. Full recap of the month now on @substack, including: passing the CNS exam and officially getting the licensure (!!), starting at @indigowellnessgroup, attending a @danceworksboston show, paying a visit to @noelherbals, a snow storm(ish), a housewarming party, a paint night, and more! This marked my 89th (!!) newsletter on @substack. I took some time last weekend to organize all of the writings into categories. All of those are now present on The Lemonade Stand homepage! We were so excited!!! And then life happened, and we had to cancel due to an unexpected mishap with plumbing. Sharing all about it on the newsletter this evening for Quench subscribers, including: - The adapted plan - the menu and recipes - The decor - Details on a swift reality check of homeownership Link in bio and on stories!

An absolutely perfect golden weekend spent celebrating in the smallest and coziest ways. On Friday, on my lunch break in clinic, I received an email with the link to my score for the CNS exam. (For those new here, for the last 1.5 years, I’ve been interning with @indigowellness accumulating the required hours for the degree. After finishing the hours, I took the exam in December and have been waiting to hear the result for the last month.) I tried practicing restraint knowing that if it wasn’t the result I wanted, I still had a whole afternoon of patients. And I ignored the fear and opened it anyways. I PASSED!!!!! Having this combined licensure - PA and CNS - was a dream I came up with literally 10 years ago. 10 years!!! So I spent the weekend celebrating this milestone in big and small ways. 1. Went to SoWa artist district and purchased two paintings to commemorate the pass - both from @tammybottnerart (one is called Dancing in the Moonlight, and I just love it) 2. Got drinks with my parents 3. Took a pottery class with my sister with @pudgys.place 4. Ate a cake that Mike made me for me 5. Went to Home Depot 6. Read a new book 7. Wrote my newsletter Some things felt new and special, other things routine and mundane, and yet still so cherished. Newsletter is now live! Link is on stories (along with another announcement hehe hi @indigowellnessgroup )

Just me??!!!! Anxiety sky high, so choosing to ground with my sister this evening. She so generously let me interview her to talk about getting into an active stress management practice, some of which we’re doing here. The post is for Quench subscribers on @substack, though I’ve opened it and a few others to all readers for the next few days. A few things we talk about in the post and try here: Feeling jittery and high energy? try jumping, swaying, or hugging a pet Feeling overwhelmed and low energy? try gently rubbing the chest, belly breathing, a self-hug spiral (hi @karaduvalrange), or massaging the jaw Somewhere in between? try a big inhale and screaming/crying/humming on the exhale, or softly tapping the face Adjacent @substack writings free to all over the next few days: - Comfort measures: taking care during illness and anxiety - From hemming and hawing to humming: an interview highlighting hot to go from feeling frozen to practicing active stress-management skills - Get hygge with it: cozying up to the cold - Taking action on distraction: a roadmap for overstimulating times - What are you so angry about? Trying (and failing) to manage rage in healthcare Take good care, friends!
