New York City is one of the first places my business took off. I remember moving back in 2016 and going to the still-in-business Barnes & Nobel to grab every single local wedding magazine (remember print? ????) and write down every single: ????️ planner ???? jeweler ???? florist ???? venue That had a similar STYLE to me. I reach out and made connections with so many creatives!! I planned styled shoots to build each of our portfolios. Worked on getting elite publications and built a $500k photography business in just three years through photography and leading worldwide workshops. It was the start. It was my start. The passion I felt. My incredible dedication to storytelling and composition. My weak spot? Editing. Until I decided to conquer my weakest link through some in depth training and focus on standing out with my vision and my voice and making sure my images matched the luxury bookings I was craving. My photography roots are firmly planted in photojournalism—I started my career traveling the world doing work for a number of nonprofits, telling stories with intention and compassion. I loved the way my work had a tangible impact on the future. A photo wasn’t just a snapshot for memory, it was a story to contribute to “wholeness,” flourishing, and joy. For me, it’s always about the story. But not just the story of what happens in front of my camera lens. I love a beautiful, heartfelt moment that feels like the culmination of many past moments (this is just one reason why I’m so in love with wedding days!). But I’m even more enamored by the idea that the story of NOW has an impact on the story of SOMEDAY. A portrait of groom on his wedding day isn’t created simply to record his outfit choice that day. I take his portrait so that two years from how his bride can look at that portrait on her desk while he’s away on a work trip and feel comfort while missing him. So that in ten years his daughter can look at that portrait and begin imagining the kind of man she hopes to marry some day (because a good father is better than any Disney prince). So that in 30 years when his son is preparing for his own wedding, he can find himself in his father’s features and be so proud of the man he is because of the man who raised him. So that in 50 years his grandchildren can look at that portrait and share in the legacy of his character. Photography matters because people matter. (And we firmly believe that the groom matters!)
