Whether picnicking, camping, or just watching clouds pass by, we all benefit from spending time outdoors!

How can we ensure that everyone feels safe and has fun outside? Respect is crucial and we can start to begin a more inclusive outdoors by:

? Making sure everyone’s experience is enjoyable and available for next time. Be mindful of how your actions may impact others in this moment and in the future.

? Giving people space and keep your dog on a leash. Respect peoples’ privacy and be courteous to others around you.

?‍?‍?‍? Being an active part of making the outdoors welcoming and inclusive of all abilities and identities. Each of us can help make other’s outdoor experiences positive and safe.

How do you help others feel welcome outdoors? What are some things that make you feel welcome?

? Venture Vermont BONUS Activity: Make a flower crown for you or a friend (5pts)
.
Don't know how to make a crown? Here's one way!
.
1. Collect flowers with long stems. Dandelions are everywhere and easy to use.
2. Place two flowers side by side. Loop the stem of your second flower under the first.
3. Bring the stem behind the second flower and hold it flat with the other stem.
4. Keep adding flowers and repeat 1-3 until your crown is big enough.
5. Bring the two ends together, add a flower as a 'tie' and tuck the ends into the loops you made earlier.
.
Haven't started your Venture Vermont scorecard? Get started! Link in the bio.

We’re excited to share that Waterbury Reservoir Remote Sites can now be reserved in advance online or through our Call Center!
.
“With the increasing popularity of Waterbury Reservoir over the last ten years, and specifically in 2020 with the COVID pandemic, the remote campsites have seen unprecedented use and some misuse,” said Parks Regional Manager Susan Bulmer. “Accepting advance reservations will improve the visitors’ experience by guaranteeing a site is available for them and it will allow managers to better steward these resources.”
.
While there is no fee for the campsite itself this year, there will be an $8 reservation transaction fee to cover the costs of reservation processing.
.
Learn more in our most recent blog post! Link in the bio.
