The much-anticipated new museum for the Pinault Collection, designed by Tadao Ando and set in the heart of Paris in the reimagined Bourse de Commerce opens today. The project commissioned by François Pinault to the Japanese architect transformed the city’s former stock exchange into a concrete-infused, minimalist mecca for art.

Design contributions to the project include Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec’s furniture and lighting, the latter developed as a series of site-specific installations in collaboration with Flos. The lighting project was developed across the building, including this arrangement of suspended vertical lights on the monumental spiral staircase. ‘Observed from below, the installation is delicate, almost transparent and ethereal,’ say the designers. ‘As you go up, its decisive physical presence is progressively affirmed.’

Life has been a little devoid of colour of late, which is why, for spring, we’re setting our sights on sunglasses in a seductive spectrum of shades. We suggest investing in some transparent frames in vivid jewel tones that will gleam in the sun like a precious stone, such as this strikingly clear number by Lindberg (@lindbergeyewear). It looks to us like life just got a little brighter.

Recently opened in Clerkenwell, VitrA’s (@vitrabathrooms) two-storey London flagship promises to be more multi-sensory bathroom experience than a conventional show space.

The art of bathroom design draws not just on furniture choices and a floorplan, but also material texture, quality, tactility, finish, engineering, ergonomics and efficiency. The feel of a faucet’s on/off action, the burnished metallic look of a mixer tap – replicating these experiences is not part of the internet’s skill-set. Which is why bathroom specialist VitrA has opened a 5,600 sq ft, bricks and mortar flagship space in London’s Clerkenwell district.

An acknowledgment of the brand’s global reach and a catalyst for further growth worldwide, VitrA London is intended to be a creative hub for architects, designers and thinkers with dedicated areas for product specification, live events and workshops.
