"What a cast of characters – good folks who took care of us, fed us, sang to us, spent time with us, and made Damaraland into one of our special places. Sundowners and a breakfast on hill tops. Spending time with a herd of desert-adapted elephants. Standing in delight before the rock engravings at Twyfelfontein. Learning about new plants and birds. Making friends with fellow guests. Wow!" – Eindelik, TripAdvisor, September 2025 We're always happy to hear these stories from guests who love our camps as much as we do, this time at Wilderness Damaraland Camp, Namibia. Create your own Damaraland memories. Today we pay tribute to one of conservation's greats, Jane Goodall, who spread her message of hope right until the end. Her work has always been a reminder that conservation isn’t just about wildlife, it’s about people too. She showed us that protecting nature only works when communities are part of the story, when people and wildlife can thrive side by side. Her message feels as urgent now as ever. A simple but powerful truth that continues to guide how we care for the world we share. Photo by Hugo van Lawick/National Geographic Image Collection.

Once a field station dedicated to protecting black rhinos, now a thriving, 22-year community conservancy partnership, Wilderness Desert Rhino Camp’s work would be impossible without Namibia’s Save the Rhino Trust (SRT).   This World Rhino Day, we thank SRT’s expert team of trackers, who act as the last line of defence against rhino poachers with their consistent monitoring and patrolling in Namibia’s Damaraland region.   In honour of World Rhino Day, follow the link in our bio to donate to SRT.   #WeAreWilderness #WorldRhinoDay
