I’ve let others words & actions hurt me & control my mood. In the past, I’ve been driven by pain. Yes, this has lead me to some success in life but also has had a negative effect on me mentally & emotionally. I learnt to turn that pain into self-love/self-worth - the rebirth. • • ???? My rebirth was when I learnt how to embrace who I am. Embrace my race, culture, body & soul. It came when I learnt how to forgive others &, more importantly, when I learnt how to forgive myself. • • ???? Nothing worth having comes easily. Happiness is a choice! ✨ COMPETITION DAY ???????? Walked away with a GOLD ???? • ✨ At the moment, I’m competing to get some platform time to improve at lifting under pressure. Today didn’t go 100% the way I would have liked it. I still came away with a bigger total than the last comp & at a lighter bodyweight. SNATCH 78kg Clean & Jerk 94kg Body weight 77kg 4/6 lifts ???? 1st place (comp done on Sincliair). • ???????? In the warm-up, my leg gave way on my last clean & jerk lift, but I chose to continue. We decided to drop my opener to ensure to secure a total. I didn’t let this discourage me but only motivated me. This is the reality of lifting & competing with not a fully functioning left leg. ???????? We can’t control the uncontrollable. We can only control the way we react. • ✨ Baby steps & still making progression. 3️⃣ REASONS WHY YOUR HANG SNATCH IS MORE THAN YOUR SNATCH!
• 1. It would help if you worked on holding your snatch position from the floor to your knees (first pull). Most lifters miss a lift (snatch) because they come out of the first position too early. ????????To help improve & resolve this problem, warm up with slow-pull snatches. Move very slowly from the floor into the above knee position & then snatch without pausing. 2. You hang snatch more often than you snatch. We all love hitting a heavy snatch & it can be a great way to build power, strength & speed. Hang snatch is the perfect exercise for an athlete like a rugby player to help those strengths. But if you want to become a competitive Olympic weightlifter, it’s time you start hang snatching less & focus on your start position. ???????? Why not add a complex into your training? For example, Slow-pull to the knee, back to start position, slow-pull snatch, back to start, snatch. 3. It would help if you learned how to move around the bar instead of swinging it around you. ???????? Honestly, everything comes back to technique & I know this because I’ve learnt the hard way. I had to go back to basics & understand the WHY behind each position. ????????
