Visually, these carousels are a little lackluster... but the memories associated with each frame are rich in intensity. I remember what it felt like to stroll the streets of the Old Port at blue hour on a warm summer evening with friends who have known me since I was a kid, discussing the merits of dog breeds we would adopt when we were finally ready for the responsibility and the fur shedding. Scarfing down a vat of warm poutine with my sister on a street corner before (yes… before) we went out to dinner the night my quarantine ended. The temporary relief associated with a renewed Canadian passport and the belief that I had an ‘escape plan’ to calm my anxious brain for an upcoming election season. What it felt like to eat meals on the deck at my childhood home across from my aging parents and confront myriad complex emotions and past versions of myself. And sit. And drink it all in. And finally, what it felt like to *begin to unravel and understand parts of my roots after three decades on this planet (and still feel reticent to wade too much deeper). For now.

To digest conversations, meals, moments, and information. Home is full circle, it is complicated, it is teaching, and it is high on my gratitude list.

Running, walking, swimming, commuting and biking around while rediscovering my hometown. A reintroduction of sorts. A reminder of why this city is so, so magical… particularly in the summer. And a reminder that I need to keep coming back again, and again, and again.

1- runs through Square St Louis
2- lake swims on the south shore
3- bike rides to St Helen’s Island
4- running through the Old Port
5- swims in my home pool
6- morning runs on the Lachine Canal
7- walks downtown
8- a love affair with the Montreal metro
