What I ate in a week for lunches as a vegan living in Tulum. ????♥️ I don’t love to do “what I eat in a day” videos since my day-to-day can look really different + I want to avoid encouraging comparisons, but do you find these types of videos helpful? I know when I first transitioned to a vegan lifestyle, coming up with meal ideas seem to take up all my time! So let me know if you want to see more of these! Pro-tip: Make things in big batches (like hummus) or get frozen veggies to make prep a lot quicker and easier! ???? Day 1: home-cooked veggies + hummus + couscous ???? Day 2: home-cooked pasta with sun dried tomatoes, olives, tvp, and pepitas ???? Day 3: home-cooked tofu peanut noodles ???? Day 4: matcha acai bowl from Matcha Mama ???? Day 5: home-cooked hummus with fried tofu on bread ???? Day salad, guacamole, fruit, and fries at • • • • #veganfood #veganfooddiary #veganlunch #veganlunchideas #vegantulum #tulumvegan #veganlunches #veganshare #veganpasta #veganfoodlovers #veganfoodies #whatiate #whatieatinaweek #veganism #vegancommunity #ethicalvegan

What happens when you have to pivot after hardship? ???? [TW: ED, SA] From pivoting careers after battling mental illness, to chasing an ‘unrealistic’ career after a car accident, to reclaiming your identity after surviving SA, these three women have done just that and proven that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Swipe through their stories, their timelines, and their advice to you, or anyone currently grappling with this same question. This is part three of an eight-part series we’ll be exploring all Women’s History Month long, asking big questions about life, success, and career, and hearing from real women who’ve been there (PSA - scroll back on my feed if you missed parts one and two!). As women, we have been socialized throughout history to fit into very specific boxes. To be a good girl, a good mother, a good mom, a girl boss, the list goes on. ‘Rewriting their Story’ is about reclaiming the narrative and carving our own way. Follow along @racheloffduty and stay tuned for part 4 later this week. And, follow these incredible women too while you’re at it! Are you someone who has struggled with this question, too? #WomensHistoryMonth #RewriteTheStory

Still waiting for the vegan deterioration to kick in. ???? In all seriousness, it’s not hard to get protein in as a vegan! My favorite sources are lentils, beans (vegan refried and whole), tofu, and seitan. ???? ???????? You can always get mock meats as well, but they’re not necessary if you prefer not to/don’t want to spend money on them. (I get it! ????) Whole food vegan protein sources are among the cheapest items in the grocery store, are really filling, and so versatile. ???? ???? I thought I was gonna get bored, but you can make fried tofu, “chicken” out of seitan, falafels or hummus out of garbanzos, lentil soups, bean tacos, and so much more! Oh, and I can easily eat what I need in protein. So it’s definitely possible! ☺️ Tysm for the idea @ashley__wilke !!! ♥️???? It’s been a… LONG time since I introduced myself. And despite how awkward it is for me to do this ???? I realize there are some new people following me who don’t really know my story! I’m Hana! ???? I'm... ???? An ethical vegan (2 years) ????‍♀️ Ex-synchronized swimmer (AKA artistic swimmer) ✏️ Freelance copywriter who travels (I’m in Puerto Vallarta and traveling around Mexico, but I’ve also been to a few countries in South America) ???? The co-parent of a cute pup (well, she’s not a pup... she’s a 13 yo chihuahua who will make you fall in love with chihuahuas — swipe to see why) with my partner @thisbrentbee (yes, he copied my IG handle ????) ???? Learning Spanish (if you want to DM me in Spanish and help me speak more like a native, please do!) I'm also recovered from an eating disorder, which is what this page used to focus on. I started this Instagram to seek support from people who were going through the same thing. It was an anonymous account until Facebook bought Instagram and all my friends and family found me. ???? It was a great thing, though, because I met so many cool people online, I could share what I was going through with the people I knew in real life, and it placed some accountability on me. This page then turned into a foodie page, which was fun. I met SO many fun people (some I still talk to on this platform), but a few years in, I realized my ED behaviors were still there — it just manifested in a different, sneaky way. I eventually left that space because it was becoming toxic for me, and I became super passionate about mental health. Though I recognize I have many privileges, I’ve always kind of struggled with my mental health. It wasn’t until I found veganism that I finally felt connected to some bigger purpose. While I know this is controversial, it also helped me recover 100% from my ED because it connected me to something outside of myself. So that’s what this page is about! I share my love for veganism, and I also dabble a bit in mental health! I hope that you find your time useful here! ♥️

What I ate last week as a vegan living in Tulum. ????♥️ Maybe this is the reason we keep coming back, but Tulum is one of the most vegan-friendly cities we’ve been to in Mexico! I think it’s the culture here that has paved the way for many vegan-friendly restaurants/100% vegan restaurants to open. It seems to attract people who are open-minded and who live a life that might be considered more unconventional at home. And people from all around the world come here to discover themselves and their purpose. Not to mention, most places try to be eco-friendly. So vegainsm naturally fits in with these kinds of mindsets. And, because I was a person who struggled with an eat1ng d1s0rder for a long time, I feel it’s important to note that this is just one example of what I could eat in a week. Everyone is different and has different needs! ???? Day 1: home-cooked veggie tofu stir fry with basmati rice ???? Day 2: Falafel hummus pita from @falafeliztulum + cocktails from @misticotulum ???? Day 3: Huarache con chorizo, tostada con suadero, y tacos de pastor y chorizo from @el_bajon_vegano (our fave vegan taco restaurant EVER!) ???? Day 4: home-cooked veggie tofu stir fry with basmati rice again because it’s easy and it’s so yummy ???? Day 5: pesto pasta + green goddess salad + pizzas from @pizzapapitulum (our fave vegan pizza restaurant in the world) ???? Day 6: home-cooked veggie pasta with tvp ???? Day 7: vegan pizza with added mushrooms and garlic from @hydrabygigi + wine and mango agua fresca that I didn’t film! • • • • • #veganfood #veganfooddiary #vegandinner #vegandinners #vegantulum #tulumvegan #veganpizza #vegantacos #veganpasta #veganfoodlovers #veganfoodies #whatiate #whatieatinaweek #veganism #vegancommunity #ethicalvegan #ethicalveganism

The 3 stages of going vegan - iykyk ???? a learning curve? For sure! Worth it? 100000%! ♥️ ???? Deciding to go vegan be an “oh ????” moment because it’s not just the food you’re changing, it’s your whole lifestyle and mindset. And that can be A LOT. Learning from people like @joey_carbstrong, @earthlinged, and @lifting_vegan_logic helped me unlearn a lot of the false beliefs I had about animal agriculture and hypocritical views I held about animal welfare. And Gary Yourofsky’s “Best Speech You Will Ever Hear” on YouTube is eventually what made me feel convinced about veganism. ♥️ ???? Cooking can be a learning curve, but thank goodness we have YouTube to make the transition a lot easier. ???? I know I always say this but I learned how to cook vegan from people like @rainbowplantlife @pickuplimes and @frommybowl since they make vegan cooking super approachable. ???? And lastly… let’s just say it’ll probably take your body a couple of months to adjust to the boost in fiber. ???? • • • • • #veganism #veganhumor #vegangirlsofig #veganlife #ethicalvegan #vegancommunity #veganlove #vegangirl

Things that have made me happy lately. ♥️ Dealing with loss is hard and strange. It comes in waves, crashes, and can easily swallow me whole. So I’ve been making a conscious effort to do things and pay attention to the things that make me feel fulfilled. ♥️ I know we hear it all the time, but have you truly thought about just how short life can be? This is where people would usually say “make the most of every moment” but personally, that sentiment can make me feel guilty if I’m at home resting — because that doesn’t feel like I’m “making the most of every moment”. But checking in with myself to make sure I’m making decisions that will lead to joy, happiness, and fulfillment is something I resonate more with and something I’m learning to prioritize. For me, that looked like taking the jump to start traveling before I lose energy as I get older. To explore what life looks like outside of my hometown. To see if I could work for myself. To see what I was capable of if I stepped outside my comfort zone. To overcome my soc1al anx1ety and meet all sorts of different people. To see what hobbies I like outside of my €D. Are you filling your life with things that make you happy? Even though it may not feel like it sometimes, most of us are in control of how we want to spend our days on earth and life really is just too short to not pursue or explore what brings us joy and fulfillment. ♥️ I always like to remind myself that people on their deathbed don’t ever say, “Man, I wish I worked more and lived less.” ???? Anyway, amidst the grief, I’m feeling really grateful for my friends and family I still have living, grateful for all the people here I’ve made connections with, for the opportunity to experience what life is all about, and the privilege to shape it to my desires and goals. ✨ What about you? ???? • • • • • #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthadvocate #socialanxiety #edwarrior #edrecovery #edrecovered #vegangirlsofig #vegangirls

Just a few places I’ve traveled to with no issues eating vegan food! ???? While there are definitely places in the world that aren’t as vegan friendly as the places I’ve been to, I would say I’ve been really pleasantly surprised with how many options I have while traveling! ♥️ Also can we appreciate that I didn’t even try to do this, but there are no salads in sight. ???? Ok, I have some tips to share in case you’re traveling soon and worried about finding vegan food near you! ???? download apps like @happycow and @abillion to find vegan food around you ???? Google vegan-friendly or 100% vegan restaurants before you book accommodations ???? check Reddit to see if a location is vegan-friendly ???? shop local produce and cook meals at home ???? don’t be afraid to ask and explain your situation! It can feel uncomfortable at first if you’re a people pleaser like me, but it’s better to know than wonder what-if ♥️ What other tips do you have for traveling?! ???????? • • • • • #veganfood #veganfoodie #veganfoodlovers #veganfoodspot #vegantravel #vegantransformation #veganfoodshare
