This journey reminded me how rare, fragile, and extraordinarily special our natural world truly is…????????????✨ The Subantarctic Islands lie at the edge of the Southern Ocean, hundreds of kilometres from human civilisation, and visited by only a handful of expedition ships and researchers each year. Standing on the shores of these islands, I witnessed vast king penguin breeding colonies, thankful now entirely untouched by humans. Seals lounged across the rocky coastline while seabirds filled the skies. Rare, magical scenes found nowhere else on Earth. Destinations we were able to experience on this this epic journey: ???? The Snares ???? Auckland Islands ???? Campbell Island ???? Bounty Islands ???? Antipodes Islands ???? Macquarie Island Life aboard Le Soléal with @ponant made it possible to step into this world responsibly. Zodiac landings, coastal cruising, and daily exploration allowed us to experience landscapes and wildlife few people ever see, while the ship offered calm, thoughtful comfort in one of the most remote regions on Earth. @ponant #ponantexplorations #SubantarcticIslands #LeSoleal

A dream expedition of a lifetime to the Subantarctic Islands ✨????????????️???? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Crossing the wild Southern Ocean to some of the most remote islands on Earth. Fourteen days aboard Le Soléal with @ponant, this part of the planet is so isolated that only a handful of expedition ships reach them each year. Weather shifts by the hour, the seas are powerful, and the landscapes are completely wild. These islands may appear as tiny specks on the map, but in reality they are vast, dramatic, and shaped by millions of years of isolation. Nearly a third of the world’s penguin species live here and 10 of the 22 albatross species depend on these islands for breeding and survival. Highlights from our trip and where to add to your next adventure: ???? The Snares: pristine, fully protected, and home to rare endemic land birds found nowhere else on Earth
???? Auckland Islands: the largest Subantarctic group, with dramatic landscapes and major wildlife breeding grounds
???? Campbell Island: rich in birdlife, including the Yellow-eyed Penguin, the rarest penguin in the world
???? Bounty & Antipodes Islands: remote rocky outposts that serve as vital seabird breeding sites
???? Macquarie Island; Australia’s only Subantarctic island and a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its wild ecosystems and king penguins #ponantexplorations #subantarcticislands #macqaurieisland #kingpenguin #penguinawarenessday

An adventure is of a lifetime, where only a few will ever set foot on… ????????✨ So many emotions as I don’t often share my video work, but here, every frame felt worth capturing. Filming these islands was raw, unpredictable, and humbling in every way possible. Fourteen days across the Southern Ocean, surrounded by endless waves and skies, brought me to the wildest corners of the Subantarctic. These islands are visited by only a handful of people each year, yet they support nearly a third of the world’s penguin species, massive seabird colonies, and ecosystems found nowhere else on the planet. We were able to visit these destinations on this epic journey: ???? The Snares ???? Auckland Islands ???? Campbell Island ???? Bounty Islands ???? Antipodes Islands ???? Macquarie Island Life aboard Le Soléal with @ponant made it possible to experience this world fully. Zodiac landings, coastal cruising, and daily exploration put me face-to-face with wildlife and landscapes in ways I never thought possible, while evenings on Le Soléal offered calm, thoughtful reflection in the middle of the Southern Ocean. @ponant #ponantexplorations #ponant #SubantarcticIslands #macquarieisland #kingpenguin

The magic of exploration… I’m still processing how special this journey truly was ✨???????? The Subantarctic Islands are some of the most remote places on Earth. Many of the spots we visited are technically part of Tasmania and Aotearoa New Zealand, yet stepping onto these wild shores felt like entering another world entirely. Raw, untamed, and untouched. We were lucky enough to see the rarest penguin on Earth, the Yellow-eyed penguin on the Auckland Islands, along with many other penguins species endemic to only this part of the world. Travelling aboard Le Soléal meant access to places that are highly protected and tightly regulated, with a level of care and respect that is crucial. Days shaped by weather, wildlife, and light and nights spent swapping stories, warming up, and processing some of the incredible moments that we’d just witnessed. Some places are meant to stay in your memory forever and this is the very adventure that leaves you both humbled and in complete awe for our planet. ???????????? @ponant #ponantexplorations #subantarcticislands #macquarieisland #aucklandislands #campbellisland

Postcards from Zurich ✨???????????????? Where our autumn journey throughout @switzerland begins. There’s something special about travelling in the off-season, Zurich in autumn feels like a dream wrapped in golden light and crisp mountain air, where every lane and lakeside reflection feels calm and full of life. Wandering through Lindenhof and Augustinergasse, with the scent of roasted chestnuts drifting through the old town, golden leaves crunching underfoot, church bells echoing in the distance, and sunlight catching on the windows of centuries old buildings. It’s the kind of city that makes you pause and simply take it all in. Our journey begins aboard Switzerland’s worldclass public transport, the kind of experience that makes travelling part of the adventure. With the Swiss Travel Pass in hand, I’ll be travelling across the country by panoramic train, discovering lesser-known routes and the beauty of autumn landscapes along the Grand Train Tour of Switzerland. ???? Some of my favourite things to do in @visitzurich: •???? Staying at Boutique Hotel Signau House & Garden •⛪️ Strolling through the Old Town & stopping for a coffee •????️ Enjoying lunch at Zunfthaus zur Waag •????
