I said “see you later” to my mom this week. ???? She stepped into eternity a few days ago, surrounded by her family, as we sang Amazing Grace and read Scripture. It was a very beautiful—and very hard—moment. I have lots of emotions today. Grief comes in waves, as so many of you understand. She was a remarkable woman. I was loved and encouraged by her every single day of my life. What a gift. Our family lived all over the world while I was growing up, and from her I learned how to open my heart to different cultures. We lived in Indonesia for a few years, where I learned that the Indonesian word for mother is Ibu. We shortened it, and she became “Bu” for the rest of her life. ❤️ While living in London, I also learned how to set a very formal table—just in case we ever had dinner with the Queen and I needed to know what all those forks were for. ???? I learned generosity from her and am so grateful I learned to live with an open hand… although Philip probably wishes I had also learned how to budget. ???? She was a fierce card player, and I stayed up many nights playing games with her. I will miss her deeply—and I know I’ll think of her almost every time I shuffle a deck of cards. Memories, laughter, and tears will continue to fill the days ahead. But for now, I am simply grateful that God chose her to be my Bu. ????

Loved being here @sistersofafricaconference in Johannesburg. I have been coming here since 2003, and am so thankful for years of friendship ❤️ The presence of God was so powerful… life changing and freeing. I am so grateful for the time spent with friends.
