Standout projects making waves around the web

————————————— POTENTIAL SPOILERS They don’t make movies like this anymore. I recently rewatched my 4th favourite movie of 2018, The Favourite, by the visionary Yorgos Lanthimos, and i love it even more the second time around. The film plays around with expectations and tropes, constantly redefining the terms “protagonist” and “antagonist” over and over again until it’s one beautiful chaotic explosion, one that i can’t help but marvel at. These scenes here are my favourite moments of the film (haha i’m so hilarious) that i’m sharing with you guys. There was not one dull moment in this masterpiece and undoubtedly, Emma and Olivia give their career-best performances here. From these few masterful scenes u can easily agree they both deserved oscars, and i was so happy olivia took home the gold for this unforgettable showcase of her talent. I also can’t wait to see what else Yorgos has in stall for us. ????Yorgos Lanthimos - The Favourite???? ????Olivia Colman, Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz, Nicholas Hoult???? ————————————— #thefavourite #yorgoslanthimos #oliviacolman #emmastone #rachelweisz #nicholashoult

•What is your personal favourite quote from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind?• I recently rewatched ESOTSM on Netflix and wow it is now undoubtedly one of my favourite movies of all time. Mind-numbing, resonant and way ahead of its time even in today’s standards, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is truly a masterpiece with one of the best scripts ever written. It’s confusing, but the way it concludes is so wholesomely satisfying. The dialogue is just iconic and I can’t wait for Charlie Kaufman’s next film this year. #cinephile #cinephilecommunity #moviegoers #moviebuff #movie #cinema #eternalsunshineofthespotlessmind #quote #jimcarrey #katewinslet #markruffalo #elijahwood #kirstendunst

So the 76th Golden Globes recently premiered and tbh... I wasn’t expecting many of the winners to take home the trophies. I was shocked, infuriated with some, and pleased with others. This just makes the Oscar race even more confusing in my opinion. But anyways, they are just award shows and we all know sometimes the best films are the ones that get neglected by these award shows... cough cough Hereditary... BEST SCREENPLAY IN A MOTION PICTURE -> Green Book BEST ORIGINAL SONG IN A MOTION PICTURE -> Shallow from A Star Is Born BEST ORIGINAL SCORE IN A MOTION PICTURE -> Justin Hurwitz for First Man BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE -> Regina King in If Beale Street Could Talk BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE-> Mahershala Ali in Green Book BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE (DRAMA) -> Glenn Close in The Wife BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE (DRAMA) -> Rami Malek in Bohemian Rhapsody BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE (MUSICAL/ COMEDY) -> Olivia Colman in The Favourite BEST PERFORMANCE BY AN ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE IN A MOTION PICTURE (MUSICAL/ COMEDY) -> Christian Bale in Vice BEST DIRECTOR OF A MOTION PICTURE -> Alfonso Cuarón for Roma BEST ANIMATED MOTION PICTURE -> Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM -> Roma BEST MOTION PICTURE (DRAMA) -> Bohemian Rhapsody BEST MOTION PICTURE (MUSICAL/ COMEDY) -> Green Book So which ones here did u think deserved it and which do u think do not? And finally... my top 10 favourite movies of 2018!!!! This really took me a while to decide but I finally ranked them according to my opinions. This is my top 10 favourite movies of 2018 and that means that I made this list keeping how much I enjoyed these movies in mind. Like I said before, this is solely based on my opinions and u might not agree with them, so please respect them like I would with yours. Feel free to share your thoughts down below! Before I start, here are some honourable mentions: - Black Panther - Annihilation - Ready Player One - Love, Simon - Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom - Isle of Dogs - Revenge - The Endless – – – – – – 10. Incredibles 2 Having hailed the first one as a classic and my personal favourite Pixar movie ever made, I had insanely high hopes for this sequel. It delivered. It exploded out of my expectations delivering an impeccably entertaining movie that while isn’t as sophisticated or fresh as the first one, makes up for it with a rapid quick yet smooth script with flawless direction from Brad Bird in regards to the groundbreaking action sequences. The Incredibles is virtually untouchable in my opinion, but this is surely not too far behind. – – – – – – 9. A Quiet Place Yet another comedian turns to horror and to wonderful success. I have never quite experienced such a moviegoing sensation like this, one that manages to literally shut the audience up by immersing us with intense sequences that make every muscle in your body clench and tighten. The acting in the movie is also sublime and is in my opinion, the best performance by the power couple Krasinski and Blunt have ever done in their careers. The direction is succinct and done with such passion and love for the genre. One can’t help but squeal in delight to how amazing it is, even if it ends up getting u killed by these monsters. NEW DEBUT TRAILER for Jordan Peele’s Us!!! This is pure nightmare fuel. The music, coupled with the insanely creepy visuals, powered by undeniably 1st-class talents both in front and behind the camera, easily makes this as one of my most anticipated of next year. I love love LOVED Get Out and thought it deserved every award it got, I think that this is also gonna be a hit. Trailers fail to scare me nowadays but this one... this one gave me the heebie jibbies. HYPE LEVEL : 9.5/10 TRAILER REVIEW : 9/10 #us #jordanpeele #getout #horror #cinephile #cinephilecommunity #lupitanyongo #winstonduke #elisabethmoss #annadiop #trailer #blumhouse MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE ????

2018 flew by in a flash and it’s finally that time of the year where we discuss about what impressed us the most... and what made our eyes bleed and shrivel up. For this list, I’ll be discussing my LEAST FAVOURITE/ MOST HATED movies of 2018 and u might not agree with some of my choices but please respect them like I would with your own :). Be free to share your own personal “worst” list down in the comments below! Also take note that I personally have not seen many other horrendous abominations like Gotti or Sherlock Gnomes or Life Itself. – – – – – – 10. The Predator Thank god I caught this on an airplane trip and not in the theatre. While providing fun and inventive gory kills, The Predator is yet another hollow entry in this undeniably ageing franchise that fails to achieve remotely anything new or engaging with its sub-par script. Some parts were funny and the cast was pretty charming... but that’s about it for me. – – – – – – 9. The Nun This was an amazing year for horror fans but alas, there were many that made me honestly infuriated. The nun was indubitably one of them. Wasting such a promising premise, The Nun squanders every creepy factor it had with ridiculously unintentional moments that indeed entertained me, but in the wrong way. Undoubtedly, there were creepy moments that were shot amazingly like the praying scene, but literally nothing else impressed me. Valak is such a cool and creepy horror villain that could’ve join the greats but ultimately ruined its chances with this unimpressive spin-off :(. – – – – – – 8. The Terminal Prior to catching this, I was honestly anticipating this after seeing the great trailers that boasted a unique production at hand. However, what The Terminal actually ended up being is an over-convoluted mess that had way too many conflicting sub-plots while feeling empty and bland throughout the whole run time. Margot and Mike try incredibly hard, but sadly, aren’t able to save this burning disaster. CONTINUED IN COMMENTS...

NON-SPOILER REVIEW for... Bumblebee [2018] - action/ sci-fi/ adventure ( PG-13 ) –––––SWIPE FOR HD IMAGES–––––> Reviews : Metacritic : 3.5/5 Rotten Tomatoes : 3.5/5 (average rating not percentage) IMDb : 3.5/5 Average : 3.5/5 My Review : 4/5 (enjoyment level), B+ (grade on film’s quality) Rewatchable? : Yes 3-D/ IMAX Worthy? : Yes Mid/Post-credits scene? : One mid credits scene right after the film ends, u can leave afterwards After numerous attempts at Transformers movies, I concluded that I would never ever waste another cent on this excruciatingly painful franchise again. However, when Bumblebee’s second trailer dropped, I started to have a refurbished sense of enthusiasm and I really hoped that this would be finally be a film that honours the iconic media franchise. I hoped and prayed this would have fleshed our characters, no gratuitous sexy shots, no dogs humping on the lawn filmed for some reason, no excessive orange and teal cinematography, no constant screeching/screaming to evoke humour, no overwhelming vomits of explosions, and no giddy messy fight sequences. Thankfully, all of my wishes came true and I ended up having a whale of a time in the theatre. It isn’t groundbreaking by any means, with the plot incredibly similar to other projects and is also predictable, however it’s the impeccable execution of the film in the direction, performances, action and actual emotions and heart of its script that makes it such a sweet delight. It’s a quieter, more character-driven instalment that is refreshing to watch. CONTINUED IN COMMENTS...
