Poison Ivy Of all the holidays, I know Halloween isn’t a sentimental one, but honestly today I just feel super grateful for you all. The past year has been really rough for me struggling with anxiety and depression. I took about a 10 month hiatus where I barely posted and was barely online, but during that time many of you continued to check in on me and cheer me on. I finally am at a place where I feel stable and even have the energy to do makeup again. Earlier this year I couldn’t even get out of bed nor do the bare minimum like shower or wash my face. It felt like I was never going to come back. But I finally have energy to actually do things (like make this reel!), my brain is overflowing with new ideas (yay!), and I’m back on track to loving myself and life again. So as much as this is a post to celebrate one of my favorite holidays, it is also a makeup reel to say thank you. POV: You’re the crazy ex ???????????????? All jokes aside, this was the first time I did makeup for myself as a form of art therapy. It’s funny because this Type-A girl usually plans out her looks with a Pinterest board and sources props weeks in advance, but this makeup was very impromptu. Not planning the makeup look ahead of time was so unnerving for me! All I knew was that I wanted to illustrate the internal turmoil I feel on my darkest days in a visual form. Allowing myself to face my thoughts and release them made it a truly therapeutic makeup session. And honestly, I really enjoyed creating this look! The avant-garde, dark aesthetic is so different from anything I’ve done before. Plus it’s a good reminder for this super Type A girl to let loose once in a while and just have fun with makeup! ????
