Tiny humans, Big terrain. I've been watching @smileysproject massively in-depth avalanche course from this years @arcteryxacademy. I'm always keen to understand more about snow and how it can kill you. I want to avoid being dead for as long as possible so find it to be very valuable knowledge. It's worth checking it out if you go into the mountains or are just an information sponge. The link is https://backcountry.arcteryxacademy.com I'll add it to my profile page for easy clicking. This year's Backcountry Academy runs until the 12th of February. - #arcteryxacademy #avalanche

From the Aiguille du Midi - Summer 2019 i.e. so long ago I've almost forgotten the feeling and sounds of crampons biting into ice.

The croaking call of a crow echos off the stone monoliths. There is no other sound. The cloud thickens. - #Scotland #35mm #expiredfilmmagic

Proud to be sponsored by Adobe. Ice Bow - Winter Solstice 2019 - This photo was made last winter on the summit of a mountain near Fort William. It's one of the few times I've seen an ice bow in real life. It appeared briefly as the summits emerged from thick cloud close to the end of the day. From a technical perspective it wasn't straightforward to make a photo of it. This photo is actually 5 frames stitched together in Lightroom. The ice bow itself was that big my widest lens couldn't see it all! I'm not 100% clear on what the optical effect actually is but it's a form of backscatter similar to a Brocken Spectre... except it had no colour. It was silvery white against the blue sky. - @AdobeMAX different this year. It's a big as ever with 250+ speakers and sessions to learn about creativity, tools and techniques. It's also free. I'm genuinely curious to know what sessions catch your eye. Let me know. We might end up on the same ones so would be good to share the experience. I've added some of the sessions I'll be doing to a pinned Story. - #Sponsored #AdobeMAX #Scotland #OpticalPhenomena
